Yeah... landing on freighters with the corvette seems tricky. But the corvette is supposed to land on top of the freighter not inside. You also have to use big red button by your doors to beam yourself down otherwise you walk out into space and clip through the freighter and become trapped. Took me like three tries to figure that out.

If you've started a main save you can bring your ship and other materials from the expedition back to your main save

Expedition can be converted into normal saves, gives you a bit of a head start in story and gives you tons of goodies, but that save becomes a "Custom mode" save

It's a different kind of experience, personally I'd recommend getting accustomed with regular gameplay first

to learn the basics
