What good are Planetary Archives for? They don't seem to register anything, is it just for lore reading?

this isnt everything, but:
new cosmetics, complete graphics overhaul such as with water, wind, lighting, etc, floating islands (and many other new biome stuff), new animal types, then fishing, abandoned mode (no npcs or anything inhabited), cross-save between platforms, new system type (purple systems) with gas giants, giant planets, and water worlds, many new biome types and more variations with biomes, archaeology where you can assemble fossils on displays, better settlements with new features and the ability to own multiple, new build parts / build materials, and everything with voyagers (walkable ships / corvettes and such), plus a LOT more i'm just not remembering, but this is the major stuff
along with new space station designs / interiors, and many more things

HG deploys updates to all platforms at the same time more or less. Some platforms are fast (Steam = instant) and some are slower to go live depending on the company - Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc.

Okay so a few things if you jump out of your corvette before landing in the anomaly:

1. There is an invisible wall so you cant get to your ship, after running for an eternity
2. you can run to the exit (for another eternity), but you fall through the floor and eventually hit space to call your corvette
3. since you didnt trigger the "loading screen" you are still considered inside the anomaly despite being in your ship like normal. you have to resummon the anomaly a couple times before you can enter it again
