I'd have to dig into the performance, but I think there are some bottlenecks that don't exist. My s25 Ultra seems to perform worse than I would expect in many cases. That's purely anecdotal, though

They are and you'll get there. Honestly it doesn't take too long to unlock it. And by the time you do you'll have the gear and stuff to enjoy it better

I've learned to never say never with HG.

My personal solution is a meet in the middle one.

Have a new difficulty option unlocked after you complete the story once that allows skipping the story and having purple system access.

Offers more customization to those who want it, doesn't take away from people who like that you do the story to unlock it since purple system stuff has lore relevance.

So I tried NMS on the Switch 2 that came just in time for my birthday, which was yesterday
I logged in to a save that has 200 hrs or something in it, and while it looks pretty good, there’s still a lot of frame drops when I’m on my freighter. But that’s probably because I have so much stuff on my freighter, if I had to guess.

I wonder if, I made a new save, or played on one of my older expedition saves (back when we always had to make a new expedition save each time) that has very low hours on, if things would look a lot better. Might have to do some experimenting around to see how things vary with different save sizes/hours on saves, etc

Real hit or miss really from what I’ve seen, people often do it for alien egg ( alien ship) or maybe a few cosmetics but that’s it at a push. And one if the recent expeditions gave out a quite a lot of quicksilver too
