I believe that effect could be achieved without glitches, if you leave a space in between boxes so you can aim at it, but in the end I just used a wire glitch

Also if you unlocked the ability to see the autophage you can use exosuit maps, scan those areas and sometimes the quest they ask you to do is to scrap a ship for it's parts. ( It doesn't have to be that ship you scrap you just need ship parts to complete the quest. So if you have parts on you they also won't point you to a ship)

Also I think there's emergency signal maps
