Guys what's the best way to farm large amounts of carbon, since you can't use a hotspot?
I know I can duplicate it using oxygen and carbon refining but refiners are so incredibly slow and since they only let you refine 4095 items for literally no reason you can't just go offline and come back to like a bunch unless you painstakingly build a billion refiners all ages away from each other in order to refine larger quantities

It'd be nice if there was a refiner on par with the mineral extractors that like needs power or something but can refine giant stacks like how supply depots can hold tens of thousands of resources in one 'slot'

One of the ways i can think of is shooting the ground with your ship using positron or infraknife.

There are certain planet that have many small pebbles, at times with small flora

I tried that with ferrite dust when I needed loads of that and it was slower than just mining rocks with the minotaur laser which was slow enough, the way I fixed the problem was just getting rusted metal and magnetised ferrite farms using hotspots

But yeah hydrogen and carbon you can't do that for and they've been a problem for this reason

There are supercarbon planets - those with "Low" flora or similar, where each small plant gives way more carbon than normal. Shoot from your ship on that planet for quick farming

If you're not sure if the planet qualifies, land and try to mine a small flora you find. If you get a lot of carbon (100+ from a single flora) from that you know you've found one

If the planet has trees, you're on the wrong planet

It may only be Lush biomes that work? Those are what I've found for sure at least

The planet will be covered in rocks, with only small flora, looking like a grassland of sorts

I read on the NMS wiki that since update 2.3, there's no longer any way to technically expand the inventory of living ships. Does that mean there's NO way to expand the inventory at all? Not even through quests or anything like that? ⁉️

If so, then these living ships are pretty impractical in my opinion, because, unlike all other ship classes, they're quite limited in scope, right? Have I perhaps overlooked something regarding the practical value of living ships? What are their strengths, apart from the fact that they "regenerate" or "replenish themselves"? 😕
