I miss the wild terrain back then - it was reined in hard when NEXT landed in 2018. Words II and purple systems offer some nice, wilder terrain - wilder than we'd seen since 2018.

Yeah I was running 1.0 on a...let me think...Core i7 4th gen Crystalwell, this was a Macbook Pro...it had GT 750M graphics with 2GB of VRAM. I wasn't even trying to run it at Retina native, but even 1080p was kind of a slide show.

I am still using a GTX-1080Ti now -- it performs excellently for NMS. (It's faster than a RTX-3060 for non-raytracing games (like NMS).) 1440p all Ultra settings, 80-90fps.

After 3 hours of in game play time after I assume completing the main story you can create a save point at a space station and then jump 5 times to trigger a freighter battle. If it's not S class you can save scum by loading the save at the station and repeat until you get an S class

I indeed recommend everyone make at least one "arrival to galaxy core" trek without using portals (but with using black holes, since the Atlas Path quest in fact requires at least one). For additional "roleplay" or "difficulty" even avoid black holes thereafter (or alternatively only use the double strength black holes (marked in Galactic Map with two black hole markers) with suitable "reasoning" (like, "I have a phobia of black holes" or "I have a deep fascination with double-strength black holes" etc.) There are so many ways to vary up game play... As long as you have fun, ignore nay-sayers!

My current "base standard" includes two Landing spots, a Trade Terminal, a base Teleporter fully powered 24/7, and safe interior volume (gotta get out of the rain), with Storage Cube 0. (Various saves use a variation on the Storage Cube number. If I build at a Trading Post, I get most of that for free and have to pad out with decorations to the 10 part minimum base parts for uploadability. For that reason, I include two color-coded flags (varying between my saves) to identify my bases.

I like the "outdoor" method because you can pack an unbelievable number in a small area, with the disadvantage that you need more bases to cover all the types of plants. So I usually use both methods in a save.

is there a good way to predict what the sentinel ships in a system will look like?

The only way is to go physically to a crash site and see for yourself

also has anyone run into a glitch where when you scrap a sentinel ship and reload, two more appear in it's place

I personally haven't ran into that, that's very very strange

Haven't seen anything similar to that happen in like a year

They can't have any types of ships or multi-tools in them, due to not having an economy level to roll class chances against

I think it's just down on the d-pad and then over to the camera icon that says photo mode... but then to load them on here gets trickier, cuz you'd need to grab the screenshot from xbox app, then save it to your phone (assuming you're using discord on mobile) to then share through that.
