They each have growth times that are between 1 and like 18 hours depending on the crop

My belief is that at least the first play thru you do, you should try to avoid donations at all.
Donations lets you skip the grind - but in this game, the grind is what forces you to explore and see more of the options the game has... it makes you walk the planets... Their stats are all very high but technically not the best at anything, great if you want something that can be quite good at everything, though upgrades are much more important than the ship itself
