When on a planet, the analytic visor shows you the points of interest like deposits and buried tech, on more dangerous planets there are items that are given a gold like icon with stars, could be a lot of things, one I vaguely remember are I think gravity cores, they glow a bright light, but also instant sentinel attack

I sometimes use photomode for scouting. Hmm, you may be near the far north pole or south pole where the sun doesn't ever shine. When you scan your headsup shows the X, Y coordinates, use those to head closer to the equator (X=0) to get somewhere the sun does shine. X very high or very negative would be north pole or south pole, respectively. I think the poles are consistently at those extremes. (No axial tilt like in real life, but I'm not 100% sure)

In photomode you can make the sun appear where it never does in regular mode.

once you have a few million units you can start looking for a nice ship.
the traditional way is find a pilot in a space station and ask to make an offer on their ship once they land.
you can also get "distress signal" charts from the cartographer which may lead you to a crashed ship

sentinel ships are like the best way to get a solid utility ship if making money isn't your thing though

mostly cos its free and really good tech, ships and multitools both

i just like keeping all the stuff i find so i go pirate mode for an hour or two and then go on big intergalactic shopping sprees

But you don't have to accept them you can send to another person if you just want grow your income your self

Bolt caster is arguably the best weapon in the game right? given it can use sentinel upgrades for even more dmg

I prefer the Neutron Canon. You rarely have to reload and it seems to do way more damage than a fully upgraded Boltcaster did for me. Going this route also frees up a lot of slots in your Multitool.

Since it's a sandbox/open world (open galaxies) game, you can continue to play as long as you'd like. You can even setup your own goals if you'd like. You can't track those goals in game, but you can track them any way you wish.

So far I've:

Gotten an S class Pirate Freighter

Found an A class Explorer ship and have upgraded it to S class

Built out my Freighter to have everything I need, including a bedroom and Nip Nip floor

Completed the They Who Have Returned quest and got my staff

Started settlement on a Paradise planet in an Explorer Guild Korvax System, Mercenary Vy'keen System, and a Merchant Gek system (Autophage in a neutral system on the way).

Gotten a Living Ship, and a Living Frigate

Aside from getting all my Settlements up to S class, I'm not sure what else to focus on. I'm thinking of getting all of my ranking up to 9/9 but I'm trying to think of something bigger.
