Right now there's a problem with the living ship quest - some troll has crashed the portal you should arrive at. So instead of using the portal code as written, change the FIRST glyph to the face glyph instead.

That will put you in the right system, but the wrong planet, you'll have to follow the marker

Being able to instantly despawn all ships and make the game spawn a batch of 5 more is better than praying that the spawns don't slow down

Just reload restore point when 5 ships have landed that you do not want

I've seen people wait up to 5 hours for an exotic ship to spawn while I've gotten them in like 20-30 mins by saving and reloading

They are just a sub-biome, the floating islands are basically features similar to trees, they are not exclusive to any type of star system

They were added in Worlds Part I, which is before Purple Systems were added

Less added to existing worlds and more replaced those worlds subbiome with floating islands

in a big predetermined band across the Universe

It's easy, the sub-biome does not affect terrain generation.

Terrain generation is a seperate thing with set terrain types

You could theoretically use debug tools to switch a planet to different subbiomes or entirely different biomes and the terrain would stay the same, HG have used that to make trailers in the past

OH! Ah, yeah, that's the key point I was missing. I was under the assumption that the underlying world seed controlled every aspect of the paricular world generation

The only times they have ever "redone terrain" was back during the unviersal reset days before NEXT, where the entire universe would be unrecognizable after each major update

All worlds that have existed since NEXT have not had their terrain altered at all, besides added structures that may flatten areas

Same with Origins worlds since those were added

Aha! Okay, got it. I - again incorrectly! - assumed it was some kind of Perlin-esque noise that was applied to a given world. If the assumption was that it was just terrain_height + min_island_height + random_offset, that makes much more sense!

Many ways, mainly from boxes aboard derelict freighters (found using Emergency Signal Scanners), mission boards occasionally, civilian freighter cargo (best hunted in outlaw systems due to lack of space police) and guild envoys when you reach max rank

Mostly up to the player, but in short, the differences between A-class vs S-class Capital Freighters (including Pirate Dreadnought):

• 3 vs 4 supercharged slots;
• 50+100 vs 60+120 max inventory upgrade limit;
• Slightly lower ranges vs Slightly higher ranges to base bonuses;

That is good enough, Pirate Dreadnaughts are no better than any other freighter

The stats that are on freighters are very unimportant to most players, and the extra cargo space potential isn't too useful either due to storage containers

The closest valid would be within the same region, since this is a special case where the region does not exist, which only happens at the core, it sends you a minimum distance away
