Let me say this diffrent way. Like almost every mechanic in the game. U can stick to tye ships, freighters etc.that u want. U dont have to swap bc of meta or anything. Example- Explorers have highest jump range but u dont see pepole use them much anyways. More freighter types wont change anything. More variety is good.

I mean it still the same plus few additions, its not like the settlers gain some personality and made me care for the settelment, it think deep down for me it comes down to the NPC/AI system, it feels like all of them are just empty husks minus the story npc's

If you are looking for a living breathing world like a GTA or Witcher, this will likely end in disappointment

Give them chat gpt so they can discuss the universe😅 But to be real examples :actually run/hide/seek shelter when sentinels attack, have quests that are not just "kill this /collect this, attach some past to them like "figure out what happend to this freighter that is deep bellow the water on this ocean planet ", "this monster is terorizng this settlement on this planet, you have 5 min to rush and help them" , i anything deeper then what we have now really, plus give them some day and night cycles, make them do stuff, work in the buildings and props i set up for them etc

This usually happens when someone places a base and Landing Pad near the ship. Some NPC can somehow take the ship and leave. I usually report the base, create a Restore Point, and reload to make the ship return.

In this case I recommend you place a Save Beacon next to the ship so you are already facing in the direction of the ship so you can act quickly. Create a Restore Point, Reload it, and then quickly interact with the ship to claim it.
