There are charts for that. You buy them and can then wait for the planet where you want a settlement. Otherwise, quests point you at some (not always what you want 😉 )

That's why mine in this save is on a peaceful lush planet...

Possibly. Save before you use one and reload if not. Lather, rinse, repeat until it finds one on the current planet.

Only can grow the single-product plants that show in the planet scan, not the ingredient ones. But if native to the planet, you can plant them in the soil all over your bases there without planters or biodomes. How many Star Bulbs would you like? 😉

Later you can claim a freighter, large vessel serving as your mobile base, It can also host a fleet of up to 30 frigates, smaller then a freighter but much larger then your ship and you can send them on missions

If you pulse around a system an NPC fleet of freighters and frigates should spawn when you stop
