like anything else in the game, things must be upgraded to gain full access to potential. so whereas your starship (which you have put far more time into upgrading than your freigther before you acquired it) will likely be a little better, the freighter scales out broader

Always hunt down the nonstandard aliens on the stations, their graves will get you into the portal network long before the story will

you need to acquire the glyphs. once you have them you can use a portal to go to a specific destination. alternatively you can join your friends multiplayer session to access their area.

The stats are always much lower for manueverability on haulers, upgrades can help, but then you can upgrade fighters or solars the same way to be that much better.

My interceptor, and Horizon Omega are both all X, my solar is still all S.

I only use the solar for pulse efficiency, though, so I mostly keep it in storage until I'm burning a ton of anomaly detectors and want to save all that fuel my Sentinel would waste pulsing and ignoring looking for more whalesong.

I have one I found on coordinate exchange, golen hex sails, white, with metallic gold accents. Lost some of the great SC I had before, but the ship looks near perfect, almost like I would have made in the ship builder but "Authenticated."

The hex look good, I think, squares are okay, but I keep finding nice ships with crescent sails which I can;t stand the look of.

You can buy suspicious modules from outlaw station tech vendors, or get them from suspicious packets which can be bought from contraband dealers aboard outlaw stations

There are no X-Class ships, multi-tools, freighters, or anything other than upgrade modules

It's not wise to buy illegal upgrade modules, unless you already have everything S-Class and desire the very small chance of something slightly stronger

They also drop from pirates, so if you're hunting them or doing a lor of freighter battles you get a chunk of packets.

Once you're all in X Class I have one cheese recommendation for Expeditions... Save those S Class upgrades, you can sell them for nanites in the Expedition. They stack, so you can easily unlock all your stuff as soon as you can summon the anomaly and access the terminal.

I just send the Matter Beam, Resonance Matrix, and Personal Refiner and jam extra modules for selling or using

(though sometimes going in bare is fun)

The timers depend on universal time, so there's no way around it, and setting your clock ahead is not recommended as it can break certain parts of your save that depend on knowing the correct time

Mostly for gameplay reasons, and because the way planets in this game operate they need land, and because it's cool to be in the most inhospitable place imaginable
It would be a lot more boring if you flew into a gas giant and just exploded

No Man's Sky isn't meant to be directly realistic in it's astrophysics at all, it's meant to embrace the impossibility of it all and the wonder of the unexpected

And also a major factor could be spoilers related to the end of the main story

Hey friends, noobish question here, but how do you deal with your stuff breaking all the time? (survival). I went to a planet to gather resources to repair my sentinel ship but I died in the planet and now have to spend time gathering resources to repair the gear the broke and my starter ship got dmged by sentinels on the way to the planet, so I have to repair that too. I feel like im in an undending spiral of repair 😛 (thanks for reading all that!)

Avoid or run from Combat you aren't ready for. Hide in caves or tunnel underground to avoid damage from environments and storms. Keep plenty of Sodium to recharge your Hazard Protection.

Caves are a good resource due to the Hazardous Flora. They give Oxygen and Sodium when you destroy them.

Also, use your Quick Menu to pull up the camera to scout for caves too.

See if you can get the Neutron Canon upgrade for your Multitool. It does a lot of damage and you don't have to be accurate.

Also, take out the triangle shaped sentinels quick before the summon reinforcements. And also take out the healers because they slow the process of killing the others.

Not forever, you get walkers or carriers eventually, and then it shuts down.

Get the Paralysis Mortar too and you can stun what you can't kill quickly.

Also, the Voltaic Amplifier adds bonus damage to anything you stun.

I generally stun lock the brood mothers so they stop spawning things while taking them out, that mortar makes things so much easier, plus the damage boost while they are stunned.

And, added bonus, if I accidentally set it off in permadeath it doesn't make me explode 😛

I open the quick menu and select the Camera like I'm planning to take a picture. Then I point the camera down towards my feet and pull back so I'm looking at the top of my head and keep zooming out until I can look around to see what is nearby. This is good for finding caves where you can hide and recover.

I like the Pulse Spitter a lot better than the Boltcaster. However, if you have room and can get some of those Sentinel upgrades they really can boost the Boltcaster.

I have a Royal, for if I need a massive scan boost, plus it matches my suit so nice 😉 Generally stick with my staff, and my Atlantid is taken apart, right now, to have just the basics in so it's cheap to repair after core jumps.

First person mode that Atlantid is worth using just for the sights on it, though. Looks so nice aiming down them I'll take a hit to my damage.

Funny, how that works, the lowest class damage bonus and it's the tool that makes me want to shoot things 😉

You get your bases set up with the terminal for portals in them and you can go anywhere, even to toher galaxies now, IIRC it used to make me go to the anomaly to jump to another galaxy base but now I can do it from my cabin.

Think that's an exotic marker that can show up on any planet, I found a bioluminescent waterworld with islands of glowing grass over in Sudzyball, or whatever 30 is called.
