The new Purple Systems (post game content) are especially effective at this for featuring whole new planet types and using a new precedural generation engine that was made for Light No Fire.

when they added difficulty settings to the game and made it so anyone can just make crafting free, it made a bunch of stuff like stasis devices worthless for player trading. The most valuable things now are glyphs to very rare places because you can't craft those and you can't hack them, at least not yet (there's tools for ships/creatures but not for planets)

so I won't release these publicly unless I've determined I and nobody else will want them

I think I've started associating the color of the ocean worlds from the Discoveries screen to how the sky looks when I arrive.

A guide? In general you want passive power generation, so solar panels or Electromagnetic generators

• Solar panels generate the same amount of power during the day no matter where they are, but no power at night so you will need batteries
  • You can send !power <amount of power your base uses> to #bot-spam and Gunter will tell you how many panels and batteries you will need
• Electromagnetic generators need a hotspot, you can locate it with your visor if you have survey device installed in your multitool, it generates more power and the same amount through the whole day so no need for batteries
  • You can send !faq-units in #bot-spam and then click "mineral farming guide" as electromagnetic hotspots work very similar to mineral hotspots

1. Warp to an uncharted system (Usually red stars are mostly uncharted, so its your best bet)
2. Switch to living ship if you have not
3. Once you warped to the uncharted system begin pulsing using your living ship
4. Keep pulsing until you get a notification "Egg Melody", and stop pulsing

Infinite, and you can stack multiple EMGs on it, but since nerfing in an NMS release a while back, there is an upper bound as to how much will be produced by such a stack. Adding more EMGs after that limit is reached does not add more power. However, if you make a separate stack it also will produce that upper bound amount, you just have to keep that second power grid separate. (Leading to potential multiple networks of gas generators or mining extractors all stacked on their own similarly nerfed hotspots. As long as you keep the powered grids and extractor grids separate, you can still get an infinite amount of resources out of hotspots.

@short flicker Just to clarify, the nerfed limit is the fixed amount per hour for a given stack, not the total to ever be produced, which is why the hotspots are infinite even if you only ever make one stack. It is just that if you keep making multiple independent stacks you can also get potentially infinite amounts per hour... 😉

Really good question! Looking for it online I don't see the maximum value itself readily documented, just that it will start to lower as the limit is approached. For example, one posting suggests you can get 1800 kPs from a single S spot with 3 to 6 generators stacked before hitting the limit.
My personal recollection was that the post-nerf limit was 2000 kPs, but YMMV.

Yah, the limits on hotspots were all added at the same time. I think the nerfing of resource hotspots is more than that of the power hotspots, so likely 1000 item/hour vs. 2000 kPs for power sounds right.

I had built an Activated Indium mining complex with stacked extractors and EMGs shortly prior to the nerfing and then cried when the amount produced was decimated by the nerf... And adding more extractors of course did no good. But adding parallel but separate networks of EMGs/extractors/silos let me ramp the production back up again.

i think that refer to the fact that the farther the EMGs you build away from the center of the hotspot the lower the power it will generate

but you can stack EMGs vertically to negate that without using glitch building

The power dropoff only occurs horizontally, it does not dropoff vertically at all. Only the power nerfing happens if you stack all the generators vertically.

Same applies for resource hotspots and extractors.

I've been doing them all with my freighter, the only problem is it pains me to refill the fuel when it's still at 95%, that 6k ly jump range makes a hop from the sunset portal to the core a single jump.

Plus, as an added bonus, you can just call in another ship and leave the busted one with zero repairs. Swap back to it in the bay, and then core jump again and it breaks the already broken.

Yeah, over a thousand hours of playing, dozens of floating islands, but not once is a Lush galaxy which seems like where they would be. I did just find floating islands, like literally floating, an ocean where none of the islands actually went to the bottom.
