right now almost all weapons work the same way, with slight changes that make them act kinda differently, and infra-knife is almost objectively the best weapon for ships in my experience.

I'd like the weapons to differ a bit, maybe have different ways they behave or can be used. For example, the ballista thingy could be a charg-up weapon where you can hold the firing button to charge up a single shot which works as a proxy-fuse flak. Or some sort of a long-range siege railgun type of deal.

Not sure if you've ever played Everspace 2, but that game has a pretty fun approach to spaceship weapons while still making them all have a niche of their own.

I have tried combos like ballista and infra knife cuz one is supposed to be good for shield and the other for hull damage but yeah the other weapons don't really seem to have a good place in the game except for photon and rocket launcher which is what you start with and of course infra knife

i use infra knife for main damage, phase beams for healing shields, and rockets for satisfying finishers.

The other weapons wouldn't even have to be as good, just maybe filling a different niche or simply be satisfying to use, like when you one-shot an enemy fighter with rockets

Capital Ship fleets have 1 Capital Ship, a handful of Freighters, and a bunch of Cargo Pods. But not Frigates, strangely.

Oh I think I understand
Lots of regular planets could be summed up as "the same all around" but there are definitely differences in portions of planets, especially those with oceans which form continents. Areas closer to water tend to be less mountainous, especially on worlds added with Origins.
Worlds Part II expanded on this, having lots of varieties of terrain close to each other on the same planet, so finding mountains won't be "you can't really build or explore here because it's all mountains to the horizon"
Lots of different elevations and forms the terrain can take that very much aren't "the same thing to the horizon", of course it has a pattern but that pattern is bigger

Oh, if you complete the main story then tracking the mission for it gives you an empty mission objective at the bottom right of the screen. If you move all items that also have popups like echo locators, companion eggs etc then it is truly empty

Hiya. I'm new to NMS. The guide I read said that I should land on a space station before engaging to get an autosave, but when I left the station the battle event didn't exist anymore. Help please?

To defeat pirates and rescue a freighter so I can buy it. I want to make sure it's an S so I'm supposedly supposed to get an autosave just in case something goes wrong or I don't get an S.

I think it's like, you're supposed to save before the warp

Capital Ships can also roll with larger starting inventory slots, I think.

you don't need to grind for an S-class freighter right away, you can definitely use whatever freighter you find or like. you can transfer your base and tech to a new one later, you only lose the storage slots you installed

it was worth waiting for a capital ship imo but freighters are super useful so i get if you dont want to wait for that

tbh you dont need anything s as you can upgrade

just choose what u like

if ur struggling to make nanites theres farms for going to pirates space stations buying goods and opening them

Can upgrade class for starship and multitool but I don't think you can upgrade your freighter class

Have to exchange it with a higher class one

You can also warp to Pirate Controlled Systems. Occassionally you'll find a Pirate Dreadnought Battle there, where you can check the Pirate Dreadnought for a free Freighter with 5% S Rank rate, or you can check the Freighter it was attacking for another possible Freighter also with a 5% S-Rank rate.

my advice for that is to focus on donating stuff to the guild reps at the space stations. once those guys are maxed you you'll get a bunch of valuable stuff for every new space station you visit.

they're in a special desk at the top right of the station. You'll find better gear as you explore, so just keep moving
