But that's weird, when you build underground the terrain warps around the objects

I have posted to !hg in the past that base computers need a terrain control option that can either flatten the ground automatically like regular buildings so, or explicit "save terrain changes". Visibility of the bases complexity would be nice so builders can see explicitly how much space their edits are taking.

there are pre-placed unowned base computers on planets. they alwasy sit in the middle of a big flat area. thats how you find them... fly over the planet near other points of interest looking for large flat areas with no rocks or trees that are mostly circular. If you spot a metallic glint in the center. bingo.

in theory you can find them using commercial maps. They will show up as a "settlement" sometimes. but I find when I try that method it keeps finding the same annoying not-wild-base-computer site over and over

hi! i am pretty new and addicted to the game, but there is a thing that seems like a thorn in my finger, always hurting? when i make a building, it doesn't snap as it should, there are zones that float, zones that clip terrain, and terrain manipulator is... i must say the most ungrateful tool i used in last years for manipulating terrain. And i am almost sure if i take a time without construct, terrain regrows? How do you guys cope with that? There are fundation that are unlocked somehow? i looked everywhere, but i only found 2 that not seem to be useful in free building... What i am missing here?

Welcome to the club friend. We're all in the same boat with building issues it seems. Some have found glitches and workarounds to make building better but the alignment and snapping issues you mention are still an annoyance. I like some of the building tutorials by Beeblebum, Enra Silver and others on YouTube though.

But when you get those really high rolls, that's what you chase with X class. It's for when you have lots of extra nanites to spare.

How to farm X-Class Upgrade Modules 
- Purchase at least 6 up to 10 X-Class Upgrade Modules for what you wish to get a good 'roll' on.
- Make a restore point
- Install them all, one at a time, keeping note on the exact 'order' as well as 'good' or 'bad' rolls.
- Reload your restore point.
- Repeat the same amount of 'installs' as follows:
- for any of the bad rolls, you instead install any different Upgrade Module (packing an existing to re-install works as well).
- for any of the good rolls, you install an X-Class Upgrade Module.
- Once you have (re-)installed the same amount of Upgrade Modules you tested, you create another restore point again.
Note: you can now repeat the above, using any remaining X-Class Upgrade Modules.

I just tested a bit and, I'm finding that my explorer gets double the benefit from those drives than my fighter does. It's not like a true flat amount across both
In one test it was
explorer +22.4
fighter +11.3
and the other test was
explorer +32.3
fighter +16.3
