My fondest base-building memory was the first time I built an Activated Indium mining base on an extreme cold planet with extreme sentinels and three pack-hunting species of red-paw fauna... I had to build so many construction huts as I went out to find the power hotspot once I found the AI hotspot, and then upgraded some of the huts to be nodes in short-range teleporter corridors out from the central Trading Post to the hotspots. The storage depots were next to the Trading Post so I could sell the AI as fast as it accumulated. I called that base The Two Towers because I stacked the EMGs and the extractors over the respective hotspots. (This was before NMS nerfed extractors with a maximum. Today I would just use the workaround of having multiple extractor networks with the same hotspot 😉 )

You can move the cargo inventory that way, but not the tech inventory
And remaining cargo that doesn't fit in the new one too won't carry over so it's still probably best to stuff all that into a storage container or your suit
But yeah, tech must be installed to be re-installed onto the new one, or else you'd have to rebuild it again or find modules again

that's the value of the ship, if you found it crashed somewhere you can fix it and claim it for free

if you exchange a ship with an NPC it will subtract some Units based on the value of the ship you're trading (not the full value tho)

This is true, but the inverse is true also: grinding on a new save after getting used to a more mature save can be disheartening. A few refinery dupes carefully chosen and limited can ease past the worst of the grind. It's for that reason I don't mind folks who do dupe. We all play what we all hold acceptable.

Changing graphics setting still sometimes puts the whole game in that state but I don't change them often

I would have problems with severe performance degradation when alt-tabbing and such when using full screen, so now I just use windowed borderless. No problems anymore.

Yeah mainly the lag issue happened when I would alt-tab a lot but I use borderless windowed mode + a mod that stops the game from pausing when unfocused (probably not a factor)

And I still have the game reduce to 30fps when unfocused because I don't like my pc fans being overworked when I gotta go do smth

Luckily, units are stupid easy to get. it's nanites and quicksilver that takes effort. so you can really just. delete the ai valves if you dont want them
