First i would suggest getting through the story as, when you start a new game, you don't have the glyphs you need to put in the portals which will take you to all the planets

I dislike that starships don't have interiors. Especially larger ones. In reality a starship would have hallways, quarters, a mess hall, etc, due to having crews. I suppose nms is a little beyond that, but those kinds of ships should still exist

• first shoot the engines if you dont want it to get away
  (however if you kill it without taking out engines you get a freighter upgrade)
• then go into the trench thingies and take out the shield generators
• shoot at the hull until it goes BOOM

well, i meant even trying out certain mechanics of the game that aren't necessarily behind questlines. great example is Bytbeat, which I found super fun. but there are other niche areas that can take a lot of time investment, including doing more complex base builds

well, like i said, i mentioned two niche areas you can get into. this game is a form of sandbox tbh. if you're not one who can easily create your own goals, then yeah, you may feel like you're "done" with the game. it all depends on one's perspective or approach to this game
