The Atlas questline isn't as creepy the second time around. And goes by pretty fast.

Upgrades are easy. It goes by so much faster if you dedicate a little bit of time to scanning everything on a planet (primarily discovering all creatures) to farm nanites which pay for your upgrades.

Once you get to the Anomaly, do all the Quicksilver quests, and some of the other quests to farm units or nanites, and boom. you're on track

it should be repeatable, but at some point you'll get a "no beacon in system" message or something. It's good to switch systems after 2-3 interceptor pickups.

I wouldn't say there is such a thing as ultra rare. The biomes and all features are all completely random. So it's good to visit many systems to get an idea of what you're looking for or what you'd like.
