Star Wars have bombers. Just put that as an example. To destroy stuff faster (or give greater damage potential) than a laser. Artificial gravity is a thing. Mass~Gravity science is a thing.

Why does it need features and mechanics developed for completely different games from completely different genres

One thing that NMS really does a good job of is simulating gravity and now.. water physics. So when you say it needs bombs.. in space.. from ship to ship.. there isn’t a delivery method that moves the bomb! Just dropping it in zero gravity isn’t going to guarantee enough inertia for it to hit the intended target. NMS physics.. not Star Wars.

not exactly you can take some things with you to the expeditions to do this. The other things will stay save in the original save. After you finish the expedition you can take some objects frrom the expedition with you to the original save

Or you can use the expedition terminal to switch an existing character to the expedition, carry some inventory over, and then claim any inventory you want back to the existing characters normal role when the expedition ends.
