How much desynch is there in COOP in no mans sky? My friend encountered a dreadnought battle and was struggling, so I popped to main menu and joined him. I could see him flying around the dreadnought but on his screen it disappeared (ran away) and on my screen i managed to defeat it

Settings

If this is your first time playing No Man's Sky:

• There are multiple game modes available, with different difficulty presets. Creative, Relaxed, Normal and Survival game mode saves can all play with each other, while Permadeath and Expedition game modes are separate.

• Go to Options > Network, and disable ability of other players to damage you, edit your bases, or edit your base terrain (discourages griefers). See multiplayer visual guide ».

• Excluding content designed with multiplayer in mind, progress isn't shared between players. It is in fact recommended to play the main (tutorial) missions with multiplayer disabled to prevent issues, at least until you unlock access to the Space Anomaly.

• If you are on PC and want to use the Plasma or Geo Cannon weapons, you might want to re-map secondary fire bind to be anything but RMB, since RMB is also hard-coded to "exit menu."

General Tips

• Save often: update your Restore Point by exiting the starship, claiming a Base Computer, interacting with a Save Point/Save Beacon, or the waypoint machines you find at some Points of Interest (POIs).

• Sentinels are like police in NMS: they don't like it when you destroy, mine or harvest rocks or plants from a planet. When they're watching, stop or move away from them to resume harvesting resources. Avoid entering your ship with an active Sentinel Alert Level: sentinel ships are more difficult to evade than planet sentinels. For tips on how to evade sentinels, take a look at this post.

• The Space Anomaly NPCs and terminals are the single biggest source to learn technology or base part blueprints.

• To easily return to a system or planet you like, place a base computer and name it something you will remember.

• Storage upgrades can be applied to exosuit, ships, multi-tools and freighter. To apply a storage upgrade to a different inventory, switch inventory by pressing Q or E (dpad left or right), then apply the storage upgrade. Storage upgrades can be purchased with units, but also obtained from other sources like scrapping ships or mission board rewards.

• Discovering and registering the complete list of fauna on a planet (at once) will reward nanites - 250 per fauna.

Missions

It's strongly recommended to play the entire main storyline, Artemis Path, and the Atlas Path. Playing all the "important" quests (Artemis path, The Atlas Path, The Space Anomaly, the Base Computer Quest, and Expanding the Base quests) will:

• Introduce you to many of the game's mechanics.

• Teach you unique tech and abilities you can't get anywhere else.

• Give you a lot of free tech you'd have to buy at the Space Anomaly otherwise.

The active mission will switch between available missions in the Logs. It can be well timed or random. You need to reselect the desired mission in the Log menu to continue.

But the way it's coded doesn't allow for adjacency to show up

Question about playing the normal game after the expedition,

Theres a ton of high end tech, a ship, and just, oodles of rewards... I want to bring some stuff and reward my main save for taking the time out to play it, but Im worried about how much the purple drive, the 150mil units and just a bunch of things might just ruin the game progression.

you might be blocked from bringing back certain items, but I would bring back anything you'd want, such as atlantid drive, some basic/essential materials, and maybe the best of the S tier upgrades you got, the units & nanites & quicksilver will transfer anyway, as will gaining more for what you did during expedition, so it makes no sense to just leave things behind, sure it will help your progression a tiny bit, but you can still progress as if you didn't have that, now with the ease of having some units when necessary

Tagging onto this, wife and I did the current expedition after literally only a few sessions (maybe 20 hours total) of gameplay, and we brought back everything that wasn't nailed down, didn't really hurt progression at all. At most, you're simply going to save yourself having to craft a few engine modules (green, blue, red) while doing the quest line, but really, thats just a drop of resources saved. Otherwise, you'll only really save yourself time.

the rewards you get from phases are customizations/decor and a ship, not gonna effect much besides maybe your base interior, the materials you want to bring back would save time from gathering yourself (like Gru said), but progression is based on going to locations and talking with people/holograms, not on the materials you gather, so it won't hurt main storyline progression

it's dismantle and get again, not sell/exchange to an NPC, I had done the cursed expedition during the redux, I put some tech on it to save tech slots for exosuit things to transfer at the terminal, I was confused on why I couldn't copy over the ship with that tech stuff, and it was cause I had claimed from quicksilver separately, I had to scrap/dismantle it (after grabbing all tech off it), then I could copy from the terminal, the same is true for quicksilver expedition reward ships, I claim starborn runner every expedition but if I scrap it due to getting a different ship, I can reclaim it again

I land my custom ship in a station, buy a ship to salvage, and when I do the vector shows up in the station as if my pod racer ship doesnt exsist

but only the old water that doesnt go very far down

if youre looking for the new super deep water planets you have to go to a purple system
