You can interact with them. There’s a terminal on one end of them. They’re purely for lore purposes, although there is a title you can unlock if you visit a lot of them (I believe ~30 or so)

Also, a friendly tip: iirc, freighter battles only spawn every 3 hours of gameplay and on every fifth system warp you make in your ship. So don’t spend all your time just randomly warping. You can do other things while you’re hunting
