For Oxygen you need Oxygen Harvesters, which sadly can't be placed on a ship.
Alternatively, head to an Ocean Planet and gather Kelp Sacs... They give massive amounts of Oxygen.
Or take a Nomad/Roamer and drive around the planet murdering Hazardous Plants for their Oxygen 🙂

I suggest the Nomad, cause it's freaking awesome to drive

it depends. are you new to the game? given that the current expedition doesn't expire for about 30 days, you can start in Normal, to get the basics from the intro questlines. that may make the expedition experience a little easier. i do recommend doing this expedition if you haven't done it, before it expires at least, since it's around for a limited time. make sure to ask questions in #nms-expedition and check the pins there

So the trick to getting Freighter upgrades from the pirates…

Knock out the shields, knock out the engines, then start destroying the crystals.

When they call you to surrender, just finish off the crystals and their big top turrets. It’ll explode and you’ll get a mod almost every time.

If you board the pirate frigate and accept their reward, then try to double dip by killing them you won’t get anything (at least I’ve found)

I haven’t lost a civilian fleet yet but my freighter is also terribly unupgraded
