You go into your catalog of discoveries, find a resource that is unique to the type of planet you are looking for (e.g. star bulbs for lush biomes) and search for it

it'll point you to a place on the galaxy map that has that thing

If you're looking for underground stuff, the only way that "reliably" works for me is to visit a point of interest that carves out the surrounding land and reveals cave terrain, so that there is cave terrain outdoors. Land nearby, stand on the cave terrain for a minute or two, see if it shows up. If not, fly up to space and come back and try again.

Black holes just teleport you somewhere else in the same galaxy, usually slightly closer to the galaxy center
