I forgot the name of the piece but there is a diffuser that's meant to go on the side of another object that I use for things like that.

i used a few weird tricks so its not as easy as copying it over 😔
I would take off the vesper pieces that make up the point because they look incomplete with nothing on the bottom and put the speedbird matching piece on the bottom of the forward one if possible.
Maybe extended the wing design slight forward to be able to extended the points forward more

that's good, you can use glitches to off set pieces by small amounts like that instead of the usual half block

That looks great but be careful of the scaffolding. It brings down your maneuverability
I had scaffolding connecting the arms in those two places. Deleted the scaffolding and maneuverability went up by 26.
maneuverability isn't really an issue, got over 2k
Regular hull additions in the same place as scaffolding have wide variance and how they affect your maneuverability

pretty good progress on this today, just gotta do the other side and the wings. interior is open/habless, except for bottom where front/rear hatches are
especially pleased with the middle and main engine, the cockpit is always a pain on this ship ( this is my 4th or 5th iteration)

how can i make my corvette more maneuverable? I have tried to add as many "maneuverability+" components as i can, and i've hit about 1000 maneuverability, but it still feels downright sluggish, especially in atmosphere, especially compared to my ol' reliable exotic ship

i have the tech set up the way i do so that i can take advantage of the supercharged slots
This my sleek ship ive kept but here its stats knowing have 6 turrets on this Corvette.
where are they located?
Each time I go from corvette to regular starship, my tech modules get all jumbled.
if the phase beam is located at A1 and the arcadia heavy booster is at C10, then the supercharged slots are at B7, B10, and C8
same but i found a way to fix that

then yeah, ideally get your pulse drive tech centered around your pulse drive module with the strongest of the set being in the super charged slots
ya what i did was rearrange all the slots when it got random switch around so i went through to put them back where i had them then i change to my other corvette build did same thing as i go through all i check them all so they stay where they at permanently so every time i change my corvette they stay the same

Another issue I've run into is that after I finished the expedition and copied out my corvette, after I had used a regular starship and went to recall my corvette, there is a phantom entry for it in the quick menu that brings an invisible ship that I cannot board. I managed to get back to the real one by using the freighter and changed the name of the ship, and now I can call that one no problem, but the phantom is still there under the original name. I'm wary of doing any corvette stuff until there is another patch.
OK, I'll try using another corvette and see if that stops it.
I just love the older great lakes style freighters. A ship designed off of one would be super cool to see.

Interesting that when I teleport to one of my own bases, the corvette ends up in some goofy spot even though I have landing pads (I know those aren't supposed to work for corvettes), but when I teleport to a settlement, it plops it right down on the landing pad there.
Thats the problem i discovered
Only teleporting that cause that issue
For all ur Corvette get random place around in ur slots for ur ships
So i avoid teleporting
Hopefully it gets fix
make sure you are reporting that to HG that you found a potential cause. That's a GREAT find and might help them to fix it!

and how i know that i teleport few times that all my ships slot to randomize so not just corvette also effect starships too
fact only occurs if u teleport from anomaly but if from space station ur good safe i did do father testing of the cause of all ships slots to randomize
I organized my corvette cache to how the build menu is and it looks so much better
So if anyone have time you can try it out and check ur ships after u teleport from anomaly then try space station teleportation so u know that's how i know what is causing it.

For me the Corvette Mission radar is bugged as if i go into the right side of it i clip in and i get stuck and have to reload; going to report it but just as a heads up. :edit this is only really with Ambassador Habs

So got a question regarding all the corvette builders out there. What kind of design philosophy do you go for, when not going for a certain design etc? I am big into WH40k so I tend to go for a traditional pseudo modern ship-esque design with a prominent superstructure etc and a keel (even though, it doesn't make a lot of sense considering the setting we're in). Heavy bulky industrial look.
I go by what the parts inspire me to; I see a lot of people like remaking existing Sci-Fi ships and that's fine and all but i like coming up with my own stuff.
I am however going to try copying someones Crab Sonoshee ship build i saw on reddit and give it my own twist but i'll have to do that in creative mode

I pretty much use any glitch that will help with placement that hopefully doesn't break the game; really not into forcing curve builds etc.
Some modules are bugged out and missing in game right now and not trade able and you can only get them by switching crafting modes

hey guys i need help with something
i have the mod that expend the part limit to the corvette builder
but for some reason now it says when i try to build one "all parts need to be connected" wich there are
not quite related but sometime that happen if you manage to snap some part into illegal position
Happene dto me with a reactor , it got snapped to side of cargo link. Which cannot be happen, actually. It became invisible and was reporting that. When I removed cargo link and placed hab there, it appeared.
That can be result of misclick or "camera was stolen by ship"

Is there any news or anything about the corvette short range teleporters?
Also noticed the noisebox requires power when placed in corvettes, but can't be powered by anything.
go hunting for it. I actually FOUND that on a planet as it wasn't automatically turned on. Makes me think that maybe.. just maybe there are other pieces that are out there we have yet to discover

Oh lord a terrible thought.. I wonder if HG is ever going to make it so that if you put a landing pad on a corvette, players with legacy ships can land on them, that has been proven. But what if, the player upon exiting the ship can then enter the corvette, and will then WARP with them.. their ship still on the landing pad and intact.. ohhh the applications of THAT
Right now, as it stands if you land on a corvette in a legacy ship and then move… the legacy ship does NOT move with it. Stays stuck where it was when it landed
any tips for making a neat interior? i'm trash without a grid snapping system so any ideas would be appreciated
This might sound incredibly obvious, but make sure you’re standing far enough back when you try to place things like living walls and med pods. The number of times I’ve ended up with a living wall accidentally placed either in the next room or covering the only door into the next bay over is……. Frankly ridiculous.
Debating if I should have the cool angular thing at the back bottom or the landing gear that weight-wise would make sense to hold up The Other Half Of The Ship

decor items are mostly if you plan to stay in your ship long periods of time they have no actual use other than looking cool
It's going to be a long while before I get to that point. I'm never really satisfied with my ships and the large ones are way too large to properly decorate. Might block sections off with parts, though.

i ended up building the anisedora
might need to find tune the cockpit/neck more. part of the design is theres a ramp up to the cockpit from an open interior and that makes the neck thicker

i will say the rear view flying it around is awesome though, so thats nice for my own enjoyment lol '

this is a vertical ship I like that i think could be done within the constraints of this game. hardest challenge i think would be making a usable interior. i really like ships to be actually useful to play the game

I tried my hand at something more industrial-looking, which is made harder by how little of the decorative items I have unlocked.
Also some rotated building techniques, deliberately kept to a minimum.
Things like that are what I consider working progress over placeholders. HG is notorious for that
Like the command computer in space stations. We can obviously interact with it. And likely we will be able to run our own space station in the future. But until it works we just have everything in place with no function.
Short range teleporters in Corvettes as well. They are an option in the Corvette build menu. We can place them freely. They just don't work.
The Corvettes are mostly just underbaked. There's a lot of the core functionality in place for them, but it's pretty clear they've been rushed out the door as a showcase of what's been going on and to keep interest fresh. So many things are rough and obviously intended but missing, and the entire thing is overtuned to the point of absurdity.
I'm mostly just practice-building with free crafting on, until something happens to fix them.
Which hubs has the less "built from scrap" internals?

It's the lighting. Note how much darker the rest of the parts are in the tutorial shot.
Has anyone had a problem when switching between corvettes that your tech slots are in disorder after you have arranged them it seems to me that run I switch corvettes sometimes my tech slots are jumbled again after I have arranged them.

if I use the same color it's still much lighter on mine
The paint may be darker, but look at the little warning stripes detail. Yours is basically glowing, the one in the tutorial is dark.
If you're building in first person, your torch can cause objects with bright base colors (i.e. white panels and things) to glow.

That's a gamma problem then. Gamma or just the local light.
You're not going to get the same shades of colors if your picture doesn't match what you're trying to match in the first place. If the same paints on regular parts are much brighter for you, then all the all-white decorative parts you try to recolor are going to be even more out of match.
its 100% not as dark
Well I won't be of much help matching lighting conditions. I keep most advanced graphics settings on the lower side.
That said, the ship-surface shaders in this game are pretty good. Even an iGPU manages to squeeze out shots like this every so often.
Also remember that some people on YouTube who make the guides and tutorials use various lighting and visual mods. Not only in general play but also while building Corvettes
Bebblebum often builds with modded lights on the space station. Making it much brighter
Speaking of... Does anybody have a tutorial on how to build vettes vertically? I've seen people pulling it off but I can't find a guide for it

Yep, that's what I used for that ship I posted. The tiny bottom hab between the sideways access hatches has a mission board, some health dispensers, and a ladder up into a thunderbird hatch connecting to the rest of the ship.

The center hab (well, walkway) is rotated 90 degrees, so the two titan hatches mount to the "sides", and the fan mounts to the "front".

They're the only rotated parts on the ship, since getting alignment right over distance is too hard.

I need to figure out how to do a shrunken cockpit design and rotate my bridge 90° so I can make it look better. But I'm not sure if I can stairs from a normal hab into a 90° rotated hab.
That's only for the initial placement, I can get that more or less accurate enough freehand. Not all parts are exactly square though, so if you chain parts "sideways" it starts to add up.
easiest one to do, put window on the front or back tip of a hab, transfer it to base computer (at a settlement so you land in same spot), delete hab, transfer back
i mean the snapping is based on cartesian coordinates, not the shape of the model itself
you can see this if you look at a save file, 2 snapped items will share the same coordinate

Only the landing gear snaps to the grid. All other parts snap to snap points on other parts, that's how you get half-grid offsets.

Quick and dirty: have a corvette, put a walkway down on middle of the floor so you can orient by the yellow line. Save. Go into normal build mode, into first person, and select a glass window. Select free placement mode. Aim the reticle at the very bottom edge of the walkway, exactly down the middle. At the bottommost pixel where it will allow the placement, place the window. It'll be placed weirdly and inside-out.
Switch back to snap build and go back to corvette build mode. You can now snap a hab to the window you built, sideways.

You placed a walkway on the floor of the station. Aim at the bottommost point of the side facing you, right where the outside face of the module meets the floor. With the walkway placed in the middle, the yellow cross on the floor of the build area will be right under the middle of the wall, so you aim where the wall meets the line.
And no, you have to place the window from the outside. Can do it right from where you're standing by the console, if you put the walkway down next to it.

2 ways, put a thunderbird hatch over the rotated hab snapped to your normal habs and do stairs up, or go habless in there
Go habless by making sure your floors have something under them, essentially cover your habs until you can't see them, delete habs, voila
Option 3: delete the rotated hab and put hatches to get into your normal habs

Technically there is, but it's a glitch that only works while you're building. Once you save it the corvette rebuilds and it disappears. :P
Interesting
It requires a rotated hab for a titan accessway to be able to snap to, and two 'floors'. Basically if you scroll the mousewheel to rotate the accessway between valid rotation states, and as you do so you snap the ghost of the accessway (no need to actually build it) to a floor above, the geometry modification that happens in the hab when the accessway ghost is attached, happens on the floor below it as well. The hab, rotated or not, stays in the "there's a door here" state. Obviously only works on the "ends" of the habs where the accessways can snap to.
I'm assuming this is because the accessway technically spans two 'floors' with the ramp extended.
This state is very fragile and any building around the area can disrupt it. And, as mentioned, it only really persists while in build mode, so it's not very useful.
By the way, while discovering that I also discovered that the thunderbirds access hatch can also be rotated if put into this situation. It is highly not recommended that you attempt to rotate it, and especially not place it.
Because it has no mesh or collider in the rotated state, it simply disappears. If accidentally placed, it never comes into contact with any other parts, so it counts as a disconnected part - and being invisible and intangible, cannot be selected and deleted, and thus requires abandoning the changes done to the corvette design.
If you use another glitch to force the game to finalize the design with the floating invisible access hatch, the corvette permanently becomes impossible to edit in build mode, as the changes done to it can no longer be saved.
Wonder if they'll ever swap around the thunderbird and titan accessway names? The thunderbird definitely uses the titan interior design so it's probably the wrong way around
I suspect what we have are the Titan series accessway and Titan series hatch. All series were probably intended to be complete, since a more high-tech "moon pool" style access hatch for the Ambassador series would also make sense.
The whole thing is woefully incomplete and it's painfully obvious. The only hope so far is that HG will do a HG and eventually hammer everything into a semblance of adequacy.
Let's hope so! I'm excited to see what will be added to corvettes in future updates

That's certainly an interesting take. I, for one, am very impressed with the wide variety of parts they put out all at once and the possibilities they provide. also i like the differences between the titan and amabassador hatches, i use them both very intentionally
do we know if the titan and thunderbird cockpits are swapped? the thunderbird cockpit looks astonishingly minimalistic and the titan cockpit looks very messy

So I loaded my restore point on the anomaly and am now stuck inside a hull part of my corvette. All the ships I can summon in my quick menu to try to get unstuck are corvettes, and I can't seem to summon them. Is there something I can do to get unstuck?
you might be stuck in someone else corvette, i would turn off multiplayer, reload and if you not stuck exit the anomaly and save outside before trying again with multiplayer

Yes, each reactor type can be stacked 3 times. Medusas require a bit of special treatment since you have to place all three before placing your cockpit, otherwise the cockpit takes one of the slots

One thing that's kinda fun is to make a kind of pontoon looking thing with something in the middle to bridge them. Think of the cloud cars from star wars
But still. I couldn't cram 12 reactors into my smaller designs. Stat boosts or no. Larger designs, definitely. But at that point, it makes very little difference because mods make it so all my tech slots are habs until I fix them via save editing.
You can cram all of them into the same spot with offsetting, so 12 reactors doesn't have to take much more space than a single one if you work hard enough at it.

You can get rid of the habs and your cockpit if you delete them after building and fill the tech slots before putting them back. I don't have all the reactors, but I could without much issue if I thought it would be useful

I don't think the ship size has much, if anything, to do with it. But my ship is quite small. It's only 2 tiles wide, 3.5 high and about 6 long. Not counting the landing thrusters on the sides
What kinds of bonuses do you have on you engines/medusas? I have everything for maneuverability apart from extra trails and one figurine and I haven't broken 4000
i have a mod that pulls back the camera, and even though i never use the phase beam in combat, it is by far the prettiest weapon system esp bc i have so many installed

I have polo, artemis and one trail, photonix core's there, and all my pulse drive modules are x-class with 20 maunerverability. I can't imagine the squid and a few extra trails would add 2000

if you really gotta have all those shields and weapons for aesthetics, you can strip them off, fill up the slots with whatever like figurines, then re-add the parts. then you can use the slots they'd take up for whatever you want
I have a feeling size does indeed matter. I have one small ship with 4600 maneuverability and a large one, same setup tech only hitting 2200.
There really isn't much reason to have so many weapon systems, buffing photon cannon to the limit will destroy enemies faster than you can aim at them anyway

Glad I thought of coming to the offical channel for this game, also the perfect discussion board. So when making my corvette I didn't so enough research and I connected an industrial haul link to my cockpit and have no door to get out, I've spent the last hour and a half researching an excuting every idea I could find to free myself, but I'm new to the game so hoping someone here could help me.
Your x-class modules are better than mine then! Mine all have 18 manoeuvrability
Fly to a space station and summon a normal ship of yours. It should kick you out of your corvette.

Just so you know, the torpedo launchers are cyclotron ballista upgrades, not rocket upgrades. As for the photon cannon, we are sadly stuck with it for now. It's probably a mistake though, I suspect it will eventually be optional.

Polo does, and giving him adjacency boost is surprsingly effective too.
Polo has pretty weak stats on his own but his adjacency is way stronger than it has any right to be. I guess the little guy really likes being surrounded by friends
Trails work. Some of the other figurines also buff adjacency for him as well. Doesn't really matter what you use though, Polo himself is the most important part if you're after manoeuvrability

Yeah, it's a little odd. I suppose the ballista is arguably somewhat torpedo-like in what it does but I think everyone initially assumes that the launchers are for rockets. I sure did. Maybe it's a mistake? Haven't heard any official word on it.

Someone might give some thoughts if they haven't already but what's there to say? It's your design, your ship. This isn't even a floor plan and even then you'll figure out what makes sense for the movements that feel comfortable on your ship. But for overall design? Have you seen the wacky designs people have made? It's whatever looks and feels good to you.
And being asymmetrical should be nothing special. 😄 IMO, it's symmetrical ships that don't make much sense -these are space ships. Why would things have to be equal on both sides? 2 for redundancy? Then why not 3?
If there's anything to say is that habs are plain yet with an ugly underside so if you have the parts and not getting too big or complex, it's often best to consider them mostly internal modules. All the cool ship designs of course comes in how you "detail" the exterior. You say decorations, I say armor. 😛
I like corvettes, but I don't like that parts take technology slots. is there a way to work around this before I give up on corvettes?

Adding parts add technology slots if none are available. If you remove the part, the technology slot remains. You can use this technique to increase your technology slots at no cost. (I did this during the expedition. I have not confirmed that it works on my main save.)

it depends. if it's a ship that also goes into the atmosphere of a planet and lands on it too, then it makes sense for it to be symmetrical as they need to be designed with space "flight" and in atmosphere flight. but for those ship who doesn't need to land or fly on plannets are stay only in space? yeah sure, they do not really need to be symmetrical

but i never had issues with personal/freighter refiners
I've lost stacks of stuff inside freighter refiners after warping. Learned real quick to never trust refiners.

The transfer glitch is good, but very unwieldy just for something like this. The freehand approach is less precise but can be done entirely in-station, which is handy for experimentation.
everyone loves a foggy station screenshot. i broke my brain trying to make 1/4 offsets in the base computer but i think it was worth it, cockpit looks so much better
you dont need to set up a settlement etc for the window one, just transfer then transfer back at any base computer. I think the window for 90 degrees is the opposite of unwieldy, less unwieldy than free placement with some kind of alignment rig. but just my opinion 🙂

Yes, but you still need the whole cycle of get from station to base, then get from base to station, every time you need to do it. Freehanding doesn't take a rig, you just point at the bottom edge of the hab and hope for the best.
Can get some very precise offsets going on that way too.

but, they are there. and considering you can summon your ship to anywhere the lack of teleporter/trade terminal etc can be more of a fun constraint than a limitation

not sure what u mean, but what i meant is u can mount cargo containers 0-9 in ur freighter base and with the right module (i think its called matter beam) you can access them remotely by summoning your freighter to the same system
yes you can have a base on a freighter, its one of the key utilities it provides

I've been seeing some builds where people are resizing parts such as engines somehow. Does anyone know how to do that? I could really use that on one of my smaller builds, and I'm not seeing anyone talk about it anywhere
im scared to try myself it but rescale+transfer glitch using base computer might do it. or straight up editing the save file

Sure, but there's a risk your save will get corrupted from just playing games normally too. Having backups is just nice for peace of mind. And then you can experiment all you want without worry too.

That being said, I'm assuming you resize the part after you've glitched it to be part of the base, then after getting the size you want you stick it back on the ship?
I'm not seeing anything for this particular application so I'm just guessing

the cannon is clipped into the cockpit lol, not as pretty on the inside. but yeah getting that vent there was the hardest part of the whole build since i cant get habs to flip upside down
I tried making a mini corvette, but it turns out. Smaller corvettes have terrible jump range.

Even my medium one I recently build and my other one ( small) have better jumprange. And my medium one has more then triple the thrusters.
sigh... i wish they would make that guns would stick to their respecting type. like... yes, i have 6 lasers that are shooting all at once and if i don't have, for example, any photon cannon or cyclotron ballista turrets, it makes sense to be fired thorugh the 6 laser turrets. BUT, if i also place 6 photon cannon or cyclotron ballista turrets, PLEASE, make the swap to those turrets if they are available

Two much smaller designs I'm messing with. A corvette-sized ship, and a dropship-styled ship (lost my other one). Both are coming along nicely I think.

Really the size of the ship or parts being built in weird directions isn't what significantly lags out and crashes people's game.
It's when you start using base parts, freighter parts and going triple the build limit. That's when you are basically creating a flying DDOS attack

Yeah, I have a mod that increases the build zone and camera zone as well. But even without, you can still kinda glitch out of the build zone. Just not to this extent.

New to the game. Would yall recommend i keep my corvette parts for later or sell them for early game money. Not sure at what point corvette building is a possibility.
You can build corvettes at any point. Parts are free if you scavenge then from certain planets. Only thing that might cost money then is upgrading.
i have a lot of parts and found the builder but is it worth going straight for a corvette or selling some of the parts and getting a decent starship
I would build 1 smaller Corvette (i don't like large ships), like 1-2 hubs, and basics to go with that, and just sell parts you don't need. I still fly mostly my sentinel ship and use Corvette just occasionally when I need cooking and refiner and acces to storage.
I had a smaller corvette I used to help gather lots of parts before I built my main one.

Just note to not attempt to fly underground with a corvette, I learned that luckily didn't get destroyed by activating the landing sequence and raised out the ground.

It involves knowing what works, some parts can be put through other parts. It's also knowing other ways to get the grid offset which allows for more creativity and there are stuff I don't know how to use.

There are two build modes for corvettes. The build mode at the station terminal is snap only. The build mode you go into when pressing Z near your corvette should have free placement

But as I said, while it IS snap only, you can free place things that provide snap points. So you can essentially free place everything. It just takes extra steps and is really bothersome

i was so concerned with the rounded edges i didnt think about how the flat faces would look. I kind if wish there were bigger engines for corvettes. never thought i would say that when i saw how big the titan is
it does look really really good to me from the front tho, so maybe i wont stress it. the ass is the first part of a corvette anyone sees in the anomaly, best to make a good impression

yeah like the parts are 1 mil or more i barley have 500k right now i had more but i spent it on upgrading my suit and multi tool and my ship i still need to go to a red star at some point to get the candimidum i need
once you get later in the game, you'll get to make a corvette. corvettes are super cool and fun to build for me. good luck man
