you gotta have a snap point. if you round/taper off all the edges, you close most of the snap points

at least, not already occupied, you can workaround by adding additional snap points with longer pieces and "walking them" to the edge. hang on, i can give you an example
lighting, you can use the camera options to move the sun. but the gameplay mode will try to give you a better light perspective from the player's perspective

need help with walkway placement for the corvettes. I have walkways between the habs but they aren't connecting. do they only go straight and not a cross section? also if straight only how do i get my hab to connect? i tried removing and adding back and still aren't connecting
those with the "Salvageable Scrap" feature when viewed from space
You ccan blast them with splash damage weapons rather than dig too
if i put the cockpit on backwards does it fly straight

yeah. 1 glitch where it turns into a sentinel ship lol and i have had 2 dissapear just today which i suspect is because i was swapping out TONS of ships. But those 2 i just had to rebuild which is still annoying

you can shoot them with your photon gun, they do area damage through the ground.
though in rare cases they spawn in underground caves, no way around leaving the ship then
btw, you can scan for salvages from your ship, you just have to leave the pilot seat without landing

There are some basebuilding mods that are not multiplayer compatible, but most of them seem to just tweak the placement rules rather than add content. The changes you make with those are likely to remain even if you un-mod the game

Is anyone having a glitch with their corvette adding old parts back on randomly? Iโll be fine, doing my thing, then I jump out of my ship and turn around to see giant ship components jutting out the sides of my corvette
there's a mod folder in the game directory, just drop it in there
each mod has installation instructions

the fix for that is on experimental and coming. But do make sure you report that its happening just so they know!
Anyone know why base parts sometimes do not stick to the ship when you take off?
HAven't had it happen to me, but maybe you're building things in range of a base and the game doesn't know you intended it to be part of the ship?

no, not from any menu that ive seen
The storage isn't part of the ship to begin with. It's actually your own inventory, the container is just a way to open it. You can access it through any of the ways you interact with storage containers. The easiest is with a freighter with the matter beam module
i mean... technically at your base or in the freighter is "outside" the ship ๐
As long as you have a freighter in the same system you can interact with all the containers as if you were standing next to them. You do NOT have to be in your freighter. It could be orbiting another planet entirely

You shouldn't put it off, because everything you build inside your freighter gets moved over to the next freighter you get. No effort lost (though storage size upgrades are lost)

That picture seems to suggest that there is an earlier step in the guide, try checking that?

I don't know what the shield snapping technique is. Maybe it's just the same thing as using trims to do diagonal offsets? In that case just place the shield or trim on the side of a hab, then move the hab and snap it on a different side of the trim

Might also work when snapping those particular reactors too, I think those may have snap points all over
I think non-corvette ships are disabled in the current expedition to encourage corvette-building

Fixed up the back a bit (still missing some of the rear decorations on the ring. Also realized how MASSIVE this thing is...
the parts that are missing are those white decorations I'm using as "thrusters" (they're actually lamps)
They don't want to come on the voyage and stay at the station when in flight

Sounds like a numbers thing to me. Maybe you're going over some sort of cap and the game struggles to remember everything. So whatever it reads after a certain point is getting ignored?

you can trade them if you find those same parts from scavenging, but the store parts have a code on them that prevents it

I was thinking about something that he would take the Entire Bat Family in.
Basically if you have around 15 habs like my corvette, only 3 habs show up in the tech slot and give 3 cargo slots each. The rest are "cosmetic" (but still useable as habs to place down storage racks, refinery, kitchenette etc)
So, anything past 3 is good

There are not enough corvette tech slots.
All of the blacked out stuff are pre-building upgrades, meaning, before I've even started building the ship, each of those slots is a tech upgrade for regular star ships.
The non-blacked out spaces are what is left for when you actually BUILD your corv

If you want to push a corvette to the absolute best it can be, you would need everything in the tech inventory AND everything in the Frame inventory
But as of right now there's not enough room for that

Which is why tech and physical parts should be separated
Not least because it limits building creativity

If you're constantly worrying about what parts are going to take up space in your tech slots you can't build the corvette the way you want

with this "frame" inventory you put all the essentials first, hide them somewhere or show them off on the corvette

Everything in the "Frame" inventory is necessary to have a corvette that's got maximum base stats before tech upgrades
But again, you can't do this, because tech and parts share an inventory which makes no sense

After what happened to that dude's SD I uninstalled the limit remover mod 
You're going to have to dig into the videos shared in this channel. Offset glitch and whatever you can find that talks about inverting/rotating parts.
I've had no issues so far with the limit remover mod. Granted, I haven't done a TON of flying around with these things. Mostly building them and my new base.
Its going to be a serious pain to make the gradual increase in angle size work on this thing. Lotta glitch building and messing with misc. Parts to see what works.
Just to put it into perspective, everything on this corvette would be required to optimize base stats before installing any tech upgrades.
Obviously there's no way this much would fit into just the tech inventory if you added tech upgrades on top of it
To maximize your corvette, you would need three inventories, one of which contains all the essential parts you see here
If I tried to put my best tech upgrades on this corvette, there's no way they would fit, because all these parts take up a tech slot
I think i've found the relevant video, it doesn't look easy to get right it seems
Both glitches on their own aren't bad. But combining them sucked for me until I figured out that I only needed a single hab and not two.

My Corvette, Post-Expedition.
Design-Wise I was kind of going half-way between a UNSC frigate and a Super-Destroyer.
No self-respecting Helldiver would be caught dead in an under-armed vessel, Soldier.
I'm guessing you don't do a lot of minmaxing lol
With the way game works, putting too many types of guns on one ship actually makes you more under armed
adapt and overcome
I just like having lots of guns.
It makes the ship look cool.

The stat on the upper right corner is not your dps
You can't fire all the weapons at once
Look at the dps stat in the weapon's tooltip
No, but each weapon has a use
or at least three of them do
Phase beam for shield regeneration
Cyclotron for shorting out enemy engines
Infraknife for damage
In my eyes these three are necessary
Of course we don't have a corvette infraknife part yet

Can make do with just infra if you're minmaxing 
Can still use it
Why take a chance though
Having all three ensures you never die and can always accurately target the enemy
I mean I know NMS's dogfighting isn't hard
but in theory
this is the best way
I'd suggest putting photon cannon turrets as you cannot dismantle photon cannon anyway, and installing an infra knife. The weapon uses the turrets to fire still
i don't mind having multiple weapons, i just wish the projectiles/beam came out of the actual selected weapon model instead of 3 random turrets for all
Also there's an infra knife Corvette weapon. It's just not out yet, but it's in the files
Yeah having the bullets not actually come out of the turrets is immersion breaking

Has anyone had an issue with their Corvette turning into a different ship type? I was doing a Corvette multiplayer mission, and my Corvette became a Sentinel Interceptor on the summon menu. It kept the name, but remained a Sentinel even after summoning. Now my ship collection also says it's an Interceptor.

I am more than ready to try glitching, move on to mods, etc., but I'm pretty impressed with what you can make with the given limitations, even with all basic parts.
First corvette, all basic parts, exactly 100 pieces... I'm quite satisfied. Even managed an embedded cockpit, lol.
So, in a creative save with a bit of save editing to save time, this is the highest I could get the hyperdrive range of a corvette. It's not perfect, I got a pretty low roll on the zenith modules and maybe there's a better layout for adjacency, but I think it's close. Doesn't seem like they can reach 4000ly.
is the volume under it also symmetrical? Either that or the camera angle might just make it tough to snap there?

amount of visual effects are capped unfortunately. and at really low limit

well sure but mods can fix many a problem, i often find it more fun, when given at least some solution method, to use that instead :P
the ship was symmetrical in all aspects, it just wouldn't fit between the right industrial linkage and speedbird nacelle, when the left one fit just fine. Anyway, i changed the design so i placed them differently.

theres probably an engine config file somewhere that sets emitter limits you can edit without actually modding the game, at least an 80% chance of that existing (probably near the rest of the graphics, keybinds, and resolution settings)
its a proprietary engine though which does skew it closer to the 20% non existence chance unfortunately
nms engine structure is extremely weird unfortunately
everything is compiled so the safest way to actually make engine changes is through a mod
which the game already supports dedicated modding
dont get me wrong im not talking about modifying the engine itself, but the equivalent to its gameusersettings.ini file
(that is what the unreal engine version is called iirc)

there should be a button to delete all the parts that are "modules must be connected", when i can fly my ship just fine but cant even edit things.
i also notice some decals are floating in the air which makes them uncomnected after i delete parts which has decals, sometimes its just best to build the corvette to be very modest just to avoid rebuilding from scratch (4 times i just gave up and scrap my corvette because of invisible unconnected modules lol)

but i turned on 3 YT videos, dropped my fps cap to 30, and then cranked my mouse dpi to maximum, if you flick your mouse from a VALID placement spot, to an invalid one, if fast enough and precise in when you click, you can place where you want beyond that bounds
I still can't get around not making my ships more than a single "block", but at least this is much sleeker than my previous attempts. Any suggestion for improvement? (currently sitting at 85ish/100 parts btw)
so i did that several times to get a significantly larger hull
id suggest building a basic frame out of hab modules first, and force yourself to make it have some 2 tall portions
dont worry about engines or anything else to start
that's what i've been doing before, but i always end up with something chonky
you can build multiple vertical "flat" layers
or a different method if it clicks more
Litany of Wrath and Imperatoris Ira are my go to ship names

- try building out of single width "sticks" so you end up with no single area becoming a blob
- dont try to put aero parts on yet, that can lead to attempting to streamline the whole thing into a single shape, which will end chonky
- build a bit and ask for help, maybe go for a really long portion to make the chonkiness less in comparison
i cannot put an example together as im actively building on my own hull unfortunately

One end is intended for thrusters and one for cockpits. Unfortunately it's an oversight that loading bays only connect to one end and not the other.
unless you are building something with like 6 layers or something that fills up the screen, ive found it fairly difficult to hit cap
but that may just be because i prefer compact
i tried building something with like 7-8 habs... it was too big for me
3-4 is my comfort
Lava planets are nice to build underwater bases on, imo cuz then you get the extreme planet but don't worry about storms.
