#

currently they're all 9/8

#

10/8 would make it consistent with everything else

turbid bronze
#

I dunno, I kinda like how it is now

#

But it wouldn't bother me too much either way

strange quiver
#

well we'll see how things go

#

freight wagons are meant to be more fictional anyway

turbid bronze
#

Yeah I know andy uses very standarised lengths so that perfect integer length consists can be made, but eh I'm not too fussy about it either way

strange quiver
#

yee, but I'm more thinking making replacement easier

#

I'm not too worried about keeping certain wagon lengths forever

#

like I'm not doing anything 4/8 or 6/8 for modern stuff

haughty pollen
#

Replacement is already easy as the game can auto remove wagons to keep the train the same length

#

I'd prefer to keep the odd wagon lengths, otherwise this set starts becoming too much like Horse 🙂

steep echo
#

Iron Emu when ?

#

Iron Marsupial

strange quiver
#

I've configured most of the existing box-style wagons to be 4, 6 or 8

#

but... I might leave it for the hoppers?

#

I'll still have to sus out what I want

#

also I have now done all the reefers and livestock vans

#

I guess they're quite horse like

#

I think tankers I'll keep consistent

#

and yeah, hoppers will be a bit more dynamic

steep echo
#

mmm blue raspberry flavour vans

haughty pollen
#

Those are great, but no need to constrain yourself to Horse lengths 🙂

steep echo
#

bet they have the same mouthfeel as these

strange quiver
#

I'm still sussing out what I want I guess

strange quiver
steep echo
#

i mean the roofs too

#

idk if ive ever seen one irl

strange quiver
#

iirc the only place they're still commonly used is Australia

steep echo
#

im also just like

#

not near many railways

#

this is 99% of the stuff i see in the uk xd

strange quiver
#

valid

#

I see lots of freight trains, but that's only because I live near/work near one of the major rail lines and freight yards lmao

steep echo
#

sometimes wish i did too

steep echo
#

interested in the \ / views of them too

strange quiver
steep echo
#

huh

#

not too bad then

#

ive just coded one (that i'll probably draw in a few months)

#

mine is double deck though

strange quiver
#

double deck? what does it look like?

steep echo
#

funny you ask that

#

i cant find pictures of it

#

which, tbf, it was built in 1868 and then destroyed in a crash in 1897

#

and only 1 was built

#

ill find you somthing similar though

#

this is a diagram of it

#

these are the CO carriages which were bought by the same railway in 1877, so 9 years later

#

one still exists

#

here's a photo of it with other stuff for scale

strange quiver
#

ooooh, that things weird and cool

steep echo
#

yeee

#

im surprised one still exists tbh

#

i always love goofy stuff like this

#

this is the same steam loco with carriages that are the same height as modern ones, so the double deck thing is really fucking tiny, esp considering it can carry 94 people

strange quiver
#

yeah, that's really strange

#

I'd be tempted to do one for my stuff, but there really isn't justification for it lmao

steep echo
#

Naw do it as a laff

strange quiver
#

maybe... I've gotta get more freight wagons done first

steep echo
#

A few hours ago i asked in a group about this book of stuff that was never built

#

I’m trying to find more info on the loco below “blev” because it looks cool and i want to draw it

#

Even tho it never existed

strange quiver
#

oooh

#

yh if you find anything lmk

#

I'd be keen to look myself

steep echo
#

These are all Danish designs i think so not sure how useful they’ll be for you xd but will do

strange quiver
#

well it's still need to see unbuilt stuff

#

it's useful when I'm making something fictional

steep echo
#

I do have one thing i could find for you now

#

A model from 1987 of the possible future S train

strange quiver
#

oooh neat

steep echo
#

The final vehicle from 1996 looking like this, each car is about 10m

strange quiver
#

yee, they should have done the tangaras tho 🙂

steep echo
#

Yeah the tangaras woulda been nice

#

They were also looking at French double deck EMUs around the same time too

#

Can’t remember if those woulda been for S Tog or a replacement for the Bn local carriages which were later replaced by loco hauled German double deck stuff

strange quiver
#

yeee, but what they went with is weird and cool anyway

steep echo
#

Yeah

#

I think they’re some of the widest trains in the world

#

52cm wider than tangara xd

Austro-Hungary used quite a lot of similer coaches

nova mauve
#

Hi, since lots of criters is being posted here, found this few days ago on insta

mellow loom
#

Then it should be a DSO or DBSO or DT not a DVT 😉

strange quiver
versed sparrow
#

Seeing twin set use as rolling stock is kinda cool actually

strange quiver
strange quiver
#

VR Y Class done 🙂

#

now it's litterally just the F class left and all the VR diesels are done lmao

mental musk
#

hmmmm this thing looks a lot like SW1200

strange quiver
#

it's basically an EMD shunter with a V6 engine and bogies from coaches from the 1880s

versed sparrow

strange quiver
#

That rebuild is also on the list

#

Iirc I have it's cab drawn somewhere

versed sparrow
#

I wonder why the cab look uh

#

Less appealing than the og

strange quiver
#

Crash protection probably

versed sparrow
versed sparrow
#

Huh a streamline pacific

severe elbow
mental musk
#

if that rebuild is on par with that SW1200-esque loco and that weird cab... I suppose it was done by our favourite trio cueing the music....

strange quiver
#

brain thought

#

these W Class shunters look very german

#

I know there wouldn't be a gameplay point, but an Australian version of the V90 would be kinda cool

#

kinda inspired since I like the DH4 in Derail Valley

mental musk
steep echo
#

Oh yeah

#

Shunters are nice

#

Esp if they can go 100kmh+

strange quiver
#

yee

steep echo
#

I like to use them for branch lines

strange quiver
#

although I'd probably limit it to a lower speed

strange quiver
#

it'd kinda go in that weird niche between shunters and branch line locos

#

but it could be a cool addition

#

although it's not really needed since IRL Australia built so many shunters in the 60s

severe elbow
strange quiver
#

just a little guy

#

tbh I should do more little shunters, they're fun

strange quiver
#

another guy done

#

tbh a V90 in the VR scheme goes kinda hard

#

guess it would make a good middle ground between a W/F/Y Class and a T/X Class

strange quiver
#

VR F Class done

#

gronk time

#

just realised the animation is borked when it's flipped but I'll fix that eventually

mental musk
strange quiver
severe elbow
#

You done a 73 class yet?

strange quiver
severe elbow
#

is the U34CH meant to cost nothing?

mental musk
#

likely not

strange quiver
severe elbow
#

i seem to always be late on finding these lmao

strange quiver
#

Nah, it's just a lot of bugs were caught not long after release lmao

strange quiver
#

Eveleigh NWC railmotors done

#

wanted to do something easy/interesting

#

these were also on my mind as a I had a meeting today at old Eveleigh railway workshops this morning 🙂

mental musk
#

why this reminds me of Budd RDC and SPV2000?

strange quiver
#

well it's a stainless steel DMU

#

otherwise there isn't much in common

mental musk
#

yyyyyy the hump on the roof

strange quiver
#

because most DMUs have that, and the design proposal had it
