hello support staff, i've created an rtmp server via AWS and after inserting the custom rtmp server and inserting my twitch stream key, i hit the option to go live but it never shows me actually being live. any idea what could be causing this?

it still updates my stream title as a test, so it reads my account, but never shows an active live status, nor when i view to my own channel does it show me being live

All edits you make on the Purple Static mobile overlay will be reflected on your stream when you go live.

  1. You will not see the visual aspect of your alerts on your phone.
  2. You will only hear the sounds configured from your phone.
  3. If you press the test alert button on your phone, you will see the default alert on your phone but this is only for testing purposes. Rest assured that your custom alerts will play when an actual event happens.
  4. Never rename the the Purple Static overlay.
  5. If you go live and your custom alerts aren't playing, or you don't see any visual assets you've added to your overlay on Twitch (again you will see NOTHING in your phone) then the way to fix that is to clear the app/data cache in your phone (steps may vary depending on model but good rule of thumb is to search for your app settings for the StreamElements app)
  6. This will prompt you to log into the app again. Once you've logged in, it should be synced up.

If it hasn't synced up, you can delete the mobile overlay (Purple Static) from your overlay page on the StreamElements website, clear the app/data of the app on your phone, login to the app again and now a newly generated Purple Static overlay will appear on the website.

If you're concerned about losing any work you have done, I recommend creating a new overlay on the website, naming it BACKUP and duplicating your widgets in the Purple Static overlay to this backup. This BACKUP overlay is simply used for storage in the case that you have to delete and generate a new Purple Static overlay. Once your new Purple Static overlay is generated, you can then duplicate the widgets from the backup into this new Purple Static overlay.

I have attached a picture of what the duplication button look like on your overlay editor screen.

Last and most important point, never rename the Purple Static mobile overlay.

If you continue to have issues after doing all of this, I would need your phone model, the version number for the app and the country you purchased your phone (important due to chip design being different if the same phone is bought in the USA vs Asia) and I can report it higher so that the devs are tracking the issues. Generally issues with the overlay are quickly fixed just by logging out of and into the app.

That is not possible but if it was renamed, that would be the issue so assuming it's regenerated and fresh then you should hopefully be good to go. Perhaps you have an editor on your account that edited the name?

If you have a friend, or trusted moderator they can be assigned an editor role to manage your overlays for you while you're live.

With the nature of IRL streaming, it is generally recommended that you find somebody you can trust to fill the role because fixing issues or changing things while you're out and about showing Twitch the world, it can be difficult to login yourself.

so far from the reading yes i added the nginx config file. originally i was following YT guide of DIY home rtmp server. though it said streamlabs to obs i just stick with streamelements of course, seeing as though the code lines are all the same and entered the custom rtmp into the mobile app

Yes, it is much better to use OBS Studio (with or without OBS.Live is up to you) then to rely on any other software.

Assuming it's all set up correctly and the auto scene switching is acting as expected then it's possible your phone is maintaining the sufficient bitrate to connect.

Hey there Streamelements Team, Ive been trying to use your mobile app for a while and I seem to be suffering from a constant crash. Somewhere between 8 and 15 minutes, I've now experienced this on two different Moto phones. I stream pinball from the arcade that I work at and your app is the only that allows vertical streams to twitch. I've tried a multitude of fixes (Relogging, Cache clears, Reinstalling) and still seem to have this same bug. Not looking for tech support, more just reporting an issue. Looking forward to improvements on this app.

Once you login to the app the overlay is created. On the website you can customize it outside of renaming the overlay as that seems to break it. Everything in the overlay is yours to change.

that being said the quote command is a default command that works on its own, as long as you have it enabled, have teh bot in chat and the add/remove commands are added suffixes and are used like this: !qoute add text

The Galaxy S10+, for some reason is VERY zoomed in on the app sometimes when trying to go live. Any idea why / if there's a way to fix this? It seems to be random and completely by chance. A Streamer friend of mine is going through this right now (just switched phones on her stream) and I experienced the same thing the other week too

My stream elements app keeps crashin' on my tablet and the interface has slipped off the screen so the go live button is all the way on the left side of the screen. I use a teclast p80x. Also on the oppo Reno 2z, It doesn't have access to display over all apps.

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

Outside of watching your stream from your channel it's not possible to see it.

Alerts do play with sound and TTS if you set them up - have you checked the mobile overlay and the settings in the app?

There is.

You'd have to stream to an RTMP URL instead of Twitch directly via the app.

Your RTMP address will be set up in your PC as a VLC Media Source with it's own special scene and it would always be your PC that is streaming to Twitch.

Then when you want to stream on PC, you just switch over to your PC scene.

If using RTMP, you can have however many devices you want and never go offline from Twitch:

Yes this is OK. Add the overlay to your streaming software and try it out (the bell shows you emulations so you can trigger alerts for testing).

By default when you login to the app it automatically generates one for you to customize. Outside of not changing the name you can do everything within the editor to your liking.

I've used the app just once for an IRL stream and it was great, worked very well. My main gripe with this app (and Twitch and streamlabs) is that I can't seem to type into the chat and can't find a way to raid

The overlay is automatically linked when you login to the app on your phone. It is the PURPLE STATIC overlay on the website, do not change the name of it but anything you do within that overlay will appear to your viewers when you go live on the phone.

seems like there's an issue in communication with twitch for mobile logins, not affecting everyone
but we will try and reach out to them as it seems to be on their side

I advise to have your channel open somehow when going live to make sure this doesn't happen
I know it's not always possible in case of IRL streaming, but at the moment it will help with this behavior
it shouldn't be consistent, so if you stop the stream > force stop the app > restart it and start streaming it shouldn't happen
