I know CPU usage will shoot up

This is what the 'normal' is when all widgets are on the screen and working

11%, usually with Media Request it'll go to 20%

So we know here that it's something with the Chromium because we ended the task just earlier on that item.

If I click 'refresh' right now right here, it'll shoot up to 31.9% or so.

10.1% right now with that dock broken.

Hi. Browser acceleration is not free, so CPU usage will be high. All overlays and docks are built on Chromium as you discovered.

The only setting that influences the browser resource usage is the Hardware Acceleration in the advanced OBS settings. I can recommend to switch that on or off (depending on your current settings) and check the data.

So yeah the acceleration helps in your case, turn it back on. This is the only option in OBS that has an impact on browser source performance.

Now you hit a limit of what your current hardware can handle. 30% CPU usage is not that high in general, you can still run everything in the background without having massive problems.

But if you want to stream modern titles that overload your hardware, you have 2 options:
reduce the load by removing overlays and docks
or get a beefy CPU with up to 16 cores that will handle the high usage without any problems.

Like I mentioned, I stream with task manager open and I've noticed 20% CPU with the same scenes, same widgets and overlays since December 2021.

Saturday stream was the last stream I noticed 20% CPU.

Yesterday's stream hit a new high of 30% CPU.

Same game, same settings, same sources, same scenes.

The software evolves, Twitch recently changed their API and disabled the old one, so the load on your system can increase over time as things get more complex

Desktop is currently having audio where 'Media Request' is playing. It used to route to 'Browser' before I started clicking 'end task'.

Music is for 'Spotify'

I feel like I killed a link somewhere with 'end task' from task manager.

Just did a little bit of more troubleshooting. I can delete the audio for 'Browser'.

Is there something that can force the 'Browser' audio to be tested, maybe a Stream Elements Overlay and send a random follower?

Figured it out. I did it through App volume and device preferences. The 'obs-browser-page.exe' was set to default.

The properties still had to be CABLE-A Output for it to work. I set this to default and it routed to nowhere, changed it back to CABLE-A Output and it started working.

Anyway to make the Media Request window smaller? It used to be smaller about 2 updates ago which was around 10 days ago? The only workaround I was able to replicate it to be back like 10 days ago was to explicitly dock this element on top of another item such as 'Scene Transitions'.

Which will get you this second screenshot look, it's the best I can do to have the old look.
(It used to have this look while taking the entire square as the element, instead of being 2 items docked into 1 element square)

3. Stop your stream/recording.

Hi I have been having a problem where my recordings come out choppy despite no change in settings and was wondering what I could do.

I have a 5600x and 3060. I don't have any lag spikes in-game, just choppy on the recording. For example when I record rocket league I am getting like 350+ fps but on the recording it looks like I have 20 fps. Same issue with csgo. I'm using version 27.2.3 and my recording settings are 1920x1080, nvenc h.264(new), cqp @ 15, quality preset, high profile. The quality of the video is fine, it is just choppy and I don't know why it is happening all of a sudden.

Hi everyone! I'm using Media Request widget on Streamelements and when I have songs queued, the next song does not autoplay. I should always play manually. Is there a way to enable the autoplay? On the settings of the widget I already enabled Autoplay option

I just noted that, if I enable Autoplay media and then I reboot OBS SE.Live, the Autoplay media option becomes disable

Now I can also observe that after the reboot of OBS, the Autoplay media setting is still enabled. So I use stream elements to record videos for YouTube and for the past 2 months it’s been going pretty good couple frame drops here and there, but now if I record the same game the frames drop every single turn or step I take, the frames only stay the same during a cutscene, I Lowered the graphics and switched around my recording settings still no luck, I even played games like retro bowl and my frames would drop when I throw the ball. Unfortunately this would probably be something to ask on the OBS discord. The GPU is pretty limited for how HD you can go with both on OBS and in game and while the CPU is a newer model it's an i3 which doesn't do much good.

Hey Guys. I have a Problem with the SE.Live OBS Plugin. Since the newest Update when opening my OBS it instantly opens LOADS of Browser Windows with a logged out Twitch Frontpage which also seems to log my User out from my normal Firefox Windows. OBS frequently crashes for me when I raid someone.
I switch to a different scene, load firefox with the person I'm raiding and displaying a browser source which displays credits (people that raided, chatted, followed etc).
I can't safely reproduce it, but more than 50% of cases it crashes.

was sent here by the OBS devs after posting this log, basically OBS keeps freezing about 80 minutes into the twitch livestream, doesn't seem to freeze unless I'm live on twitch, did a test stream for 34 hours straight on Restream without issue.
OBS gives no alerts, just frozen screen which I have to close OBS from.
U*pon online analysis, the mismatched sample rate device isn't being used with OBs so I can disconnect that, I've set OBS to open in admin mode, updated latest GPU drivers, any other suggestions to be gleaned from the log?

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Hi, I need help with a possible caching issue regarding my overlay. I created an overlay and customized the CSS of a widget in the StreamElements overlay editor in Chrome. In the browser everything looks as expected. However, the overlay browser source in SE.Live looks like it's missing a crucial single line of CSS. I used the button in OBS that says "edit this overlay in StreamElements," and the editor that launches within OBS is also incorrect. I troubleshooted several different ways, a list which I can provide if necessary, but none of them have worked. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

Hi! OBS Live plugin keeps crashing OBS whenever I try to open the program. It wont let me uninstall either - I've tried the normal Windows uninstall route and the 'obs-streamelements-uninstaller.exe' but it never actually uninstalls. Plz help!

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help I have updated SE.Live however after updating it it has completly broken OBS I have tried all the normal fixes uninstalling OBS and Stream-elements and then reinstalling the latest version of both and also cleared all by Old OBS data but nothing is working when I use OBS normally its fine but when I go an install SE.Live it completely breaks and either does an infinite loading loop or times out and says cant connect with SE Servers help would be much appeciated

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Having a slightly different problem. Right after doing the streamelements update, every time I start to stream my whole PC freezes up for a few seconds, and it does this every few seconds, which makes it very difficult to do anything. Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Hello ! I had problems with this new update of streamelements adds on. When i go live with custom settings does not save them but instead brings me live to wheere i have logged in... for example , i use restream and i want to stream with restream with custom settings on OBS but streamelements does not save or behave to my settings, streameleements brings me live direct on trovo. it did not do this before . but after the last update of yesterday , started glitichg

so i had to remove streamelements from OBS and just monitorise streamelemends feed from browser. otherwise streamelements does not allow me to use custom settings on OBS. even if i change save whatever, streamelements brings me live to where i was logged in. i like the plugin but just for the feed and go live with my custom settings

Now streamelements is forcing me to update also OBS which i don't want because the latest OBS has problems too. Latest OBS runs heavy encoding by causing encoding lag to my stream with the max quality. The older version of OBS 27.1.3 i use max quality no encoding lag. My computer feels this change because the software's are not being tested with minimum requirements , but with high end computers, they don't feel any issue because they can handle a little bit heavier computing.

Hey, I just wanted to ask if there is a singular source that has a full documentation of each streamelements chatbot feature and variables? I mod for multiple channels that use streamelements and also use it myself, and have become quite advanced in some of my use-cases but am limited by not really knowing a lot of syntax or having much direction of where to even look. Right now, for instance, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to append text to a variable for a compliment command, so it includes a comma after the compliment if more text follows the command but doesn't include one if no input is selected. I have all but the comma working, and have to either remove it or have it if no text is inputted too, but I have no real way to know if what I want to do is even possible. Any suggestions of sources for a complete source of this knowledge is appreciated greatly!

Is there a way to download old versions of se.live? I updated to Ver. 22.3.5.805 (latest update) and my browser source is invisible, its there I can edit is but the image is not visible. I Disabled and Enabled the hardware accelerate, refreshed and that did not solve the issue.

on the latest update I'm having an issue with media request. If I use the "show on stream" option it'll play audio for a few seconds and then start to appear like it's buffering with the spinning circle, but it stays hard locked that way until I refresh the widget.

This doesn't happen if I leave it in the docked player. It also isn't tied to routing the audio through OBS, already thought of testing that and the results are the same

disabling browser source hardware acceleration fixes it, not really ideal but hopefully these details help pin down what went wrong. prior to update this didn't happen, and the only thing I've updated was SE.live

Having an issue with media requests playing choppy music when “showing on stream”. Viewer requests sound terrible with a lot of static. Also Sound Alerts coming through choppy and lagged.

Hi! My SE.Live installer/updater is stuck on a loop. It will tell me I need to update and I allow it. It goes through the installer and opens OBS after it finishes and it tells me it needs to update again. I have uninstalled and installed and I have the same thing

I fixed it, thank you for your reply! In case anyone else runs into the same issue I uninstalled OBS + Se.LIVE but kept the settings then reinstalled. Now in OBS I did the following: Delete the browser > Added browser again > Right click on the browser > Select properties > Scroll down to the bottom > Select "Refresh cache of current page" > Then click OK. Now I'm sure some step were unnecessary but it worked. 🤧

Dude the same thing happened to me unfortunately saving settings exclude audio settings lol but the issue was fixed, so theres the up side. Hopefully it works out for you. Because literally nothing else was working for me.

after the update 27.2.3 its just a giant mess again.. login if clicked isnt working so half of the screens dont show up.. theres no other way to login on twitch within obs.. everytime i wanna go live theres an update that f.cks up going live im getting really tired of this. hopefully next time i can go live without doing the update. if anyone has this problem and knows how to fix it i would love to come over and give you a giant hug or teddybear for your troubles

There is not a way. SE.Live is the approved/recommended way. Ground Control works but it's not recommended.

Okay. First thing is first: Uninstall OBS Studio, then delete %appdata%/obs-studio/

then reinstall OBS Studio only

Once we get to that point, let's create a blank scene with just an overlay. When you copy the URL from the overlay, do it from the overlay list by clicking on the ... and selecting Copy URL

You can copy the basic folder inside the obs-studio folder which should contain your scenes and sources, but as we are starting over to ensure that things work, I wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely need them

I believe you can also import the json files inside the subfolders as well which will then pull in the information

So as long as you back up the %appdata%/obs-studio/basic/ folder you should be fine

I have a question. No clue why this was happening to me at all either.

Lately most of my streaming has be Sea of Thieves and Halo Infinite. I've always enjoyed the SE OBS Live Plugin on my OBS.

About Mid-Feb 2022 Some updates went through and then it caused my Game to look sloppy. All the Green colours were muck and brown. Master Chief's Emerald-Green Armour looked like it went through a swampy ditch and a coat of mud was stuck on his armour. SoT Graphics were just as bad.

This issue was only happening with the Game Capture with SE OBS Live. Display Capture gave no issues at all.

Other games looked fine too. It was only games through the XB App on Windows PC that were having this issue. Games like CSGO and others from Steam looked fine.

I reported this issue to the OBS Support Discord and they told me the SE OBS Live Plugin was no longer supported. Which IMO is BS because I love the plugin and my friends who use the same plugin don't have these issues at all.

I was essentially forced to uninstall both OBS Live and OBS and reinstall only OBS and try again. This did fix the issue with my game's colours. But now I no longer have my custom Bot Name or any of that fun stuff from the SE Live Plugin. Any chance we can see if this can be fixed?
