when I started I played around a lot with my settings. went over everything I could think might be relevant

it starts with output resolution and goes into encoders

it's really things users should play around with and constantly check

check how it looks on twitch and how it sounds and what needs attention and google how you can work on that (or ask us if you have something specific)

but that would be the best practice I can suggest since every setup relies on its own 'circumstances'

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

but the guide from OBS can help with understanding what settings you can play around with to improve stream quality

well if stable wifi should be good as well, and i've seen users and some of our volunteers that have a very stable wifi based setup

to me though it was a disaster and I can't use anything other than a physical connection

it should improve it I believe, but that also is very specific to the local setup

Seem to have a nub issue: none of the alerts are showing up in OBS itself. Tried to use the projector to see if the browser file does anything - nothing. For testing purposes I created a basic alert from SE, put the link into a browser src, use the test buttons on SE web interface: nothing.

In SE, the web interface, it reacts and behaves as expected - just nothing goes through to OBS locally.

okay, damn that was a foolish thing... yet, as an experience designer can I suggest that the wording is changed. As to me it appeared to suggest it will require to "go live", not simply to see it on my OBS projector. That's why I didn't activate the glaring red checkbox - it created that suggestive appeal of being "live on a stream" which I am not - I just have OBS open.

So I'm having issues with the custom bot name! It was working last week then all of a sudden my commands wont work under my name on twitch!
It's working under streamelements but just not my twitch name so I can use my emotes!

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Hi. When you have a high CPU usage, you should lower your settings. The OBS Logs do not show a stream attempt so we do not have data if that impacts the stream performance in this case.

It happened to me last week, I managed to make it work by changing browser (I was using Opera and switched to Firefox).

I thought it was a compatibility issue then, but yesterday I got the same error, independently of the browser, even in incognito mode

Hey im having an issue with writing a custom command for my chat! I want a single command to display text but also to redeem a store item (that plays a sound and a gif when used) But when i add the ${redeem test} to the command it does not print the text in chat anymore, it simply states "user redeemed test" while in the command it says "oh no does this work ${redeem test}" the "oh no does this work" Does not get put into chat. How can i make this work?

If you still want to use the new features without OBS.Live you can download the zip version from the website and extract. It'll automatically grab everything from the other copy.

Ok, so I received an update from OBS after that I receive an update from OBS live like I always have. Now my ram is peaking at 95% when streaming which it never has done before.

If i ask support at OBS they are sending me back here that OBS live must have updated badly.

various things do not work properly such as my custom bot is not working anymore. transitions are glitching and and my ram is pushing max while this should not be the case

when I reach out here I rarely get an answer, what gives?

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.
To make sure you hear the alerts and the stream also hears them, follow along the screenshot bellow.

To reset goals:

• from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
• from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

I just found it and turned off the preview and the settings have now opened up. The reason I was looking to change the settings is because I have noticed that my stream crashed multiple times during my streams and I am not sure why. I have gig speed hard wired internet and for some reason, the network kb/s just die a number of times to the point that I have to close OBS and restart it and my stream.

Essentially profiles is an OBS feature. Do you have crash logs for these instances? we can take it up internally but it might take a few days for developers to reply.

Ok now among having severe Audio issues ie: no audio (music don't play) now I can't even uninstall Stream Elements Live OBS, I do not know what you all are doing but I will tell you this if I get any Malware or it Messes up my computer you will pay me $2,500 for my laptop and get me a new one on top of that. You all need to get your stuff together with these updates and patches and things, because as a customer I shouldn't have to have a worry about a software ruining my laptop from a so called reputable company, I do get it nothing is ever perfect but when you start trying to experiment to see what certain tweaks will improve, as a software engineer my self I know the in's and out's of patches and updates and how certain things have to keep up with the demands of technology, but come on really, putting out an update that makes the program to where you can't uninstall, I had to buy a program to get to uninstall it so now as I see it, it cost me 20 bucks to get this program, I feel Stream Elements should give me a month of free prime subscription at least to show good faith, but I don't think that will happen so I am out of 20 bucks, what a nightmare this has turned out to be, what a shame.

We cannot offer you any free prime, because we do not have any paid services. We are a completely free service to use.
That being said, using an external program and buying that program to uninstall a plugin seems excessive in my opinion. If there was an issue with the uninstaller it would be best to first report it to us, as we might have some troubleshooting steps to help uninstall the plugin, rather then using a 3rd party uninstaller program that may or may not be more direct and more harming to your hardware then the Windows uninstaller.

As for audio issue - is there no actual audio but video is playing or specifically you have a buffer issue here?(I checked your previous post and you mention not being able to play the video it self, not specifically the audio).

Ok look it is both the video issue and not being able to play music too, i can't even enact my windows media player while the program is running but once I shut down Stream Elements Live OBS program it plays fine so I know it is not my computer at all, and I checked all the hardware drivers in device manager and all of them are up to date .

Just to point out - OBS.Live is a plugin for OBS Studio and not a full fork.
Not sure what might cause Media Player to not work while OBS is turned on, but it sounds like there isn't enough resources from the GPU to run both a capture software(which requires resources and especially trying to render that back in the preview window and sending it to stream) and a video playing software.

How exactly are you playing music? Via Youtube or via Media Request from OBS.Live's dock?

Hi, I am just trying out Stream Elements OBS, seem to run into a few problems. Initially, it was having issues showing the game I was playing on Game Capture, but after making edits to some settings (run as administrator), it showed. But right now, none of my commands seem to work even though they are enabled from the StreamElements website. From the Dashboard, the bot is also shown to be in my channel (Part Channel button is available)

Well I tried the router reset and that still did not fix the buffering of the media player for YT, then Stream Elements made my computer Crash, I have a laptop with an i7 8th Gen Intel processor, fast and powerful, then I Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU , a Samsung EVO 255GB SSD and a Western Digital 7200 RPM HDD 1TB, so I know it is not my computer, I have a $10,000 dollar Digital Audio Workstation that is way more extensive at pulling my computer's resources then this Stream Elements Live OBS, and no I do not run them at the same time because that would make a conflict with the CPU and the GPU and I know this, I am not completely in the dark on computers here. First Stream Elements Stop Playing my Music through my Windows Media player then it stop playing it through YT Media Widget and kept the video on a constant buffering Cycle, so now my question is what is being done to fix these issues inside Stream Elements plugin OBS live, because there has to something really wrong here with the plugin or OBS it self with there newest update. And this needs to be addressed when it is possible .

Well maybe you need to check your drivers in your hard wear devices like your USB Drivers in particular because I just resolved my audio issues by going in to my device manager and I must have missed it before over looked it because there was a USB Driver that was in conflict with my audio and I had to uninstall it so hopefully you can resolve your issue too I hope you can and I wish you the best of luck @rugged quail

@mortal bone Yes as far as I know, I had went in to my device manager no less than 15 times and I had missed a USB Driver that went to my Scarlett Audio interface that was in conflict with my other audio drivers thus making them useless to use while in OBS even the YT Video dock now play fine without any buffering issues so all I am saying be sure to check your Drivers in your Windows PC or laptop because the issue maybe in there if anyone is have the same issues

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Use the Twitch Bandwidth Test to find the best Twitch server to stream to. Set Duration to Medium. You can uncheck any regions you're not near.

Hello I'm currently having issues with my obs. When I start up any of my games while OBS is active (not live just on) for some reason OBS starts dropping frames gets as low as 20, however when i restart OBS while the game is active nothing is wrong its stable fps, I have tried at different fps, I think i tried setting priority to OBS and starting it up in admin mode just running low on ideas.

Good morning, I have a little problem with the chat bot, since Saturday it no longer reacts to commands or other things, the alerts that I have about Streamelements, only the chat bots are not running. I have already disconnected and reconnected, but only the message failed to join bot. I added a second acc for the botname, and I removed it again and took the standard. but unfortunately nothing works. with twitch in the roles i can't add a mod role to streamelements either. Maybe someone can help me

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

i dont have audio either, As im using capture card i could just change "Audio Output Mode" to output desktop audio and used Elgato Sound thingie to get the sound instead of the normal when it just goes throug the HDMI cable to the stream pc.

OBS launches an update and all my audio is going buggers. I was planning to do a simple little stream after work to relax two days back up till the point that OBS told me i had to update.

A: I do have an issue with the fact that we get fed updates that always break something.
B: If i reach out in OBS I am send over here
C If i reach out in here I am send over there

I got advice here yesterdays to:

Uninstall OBS.Live
Uninstall OBS (DO NOT CHECK OPTION TO DELETE SETTINGS. SERIOUSLY.)
Install OBS. (https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases/tag/27.0.1)
Install OBS.Live

Ignore the update notification from OBS for 27.1

I ignored the update on a new installation and now you i see a pinned message to do just that and install 27.1 anyway 😦 I and many others are literally wasting time with this and I cant seem to resolve it either way.

Sorry but this is how this all feels about now after 3 days of struggle :/

but you don't have to revert back to 27.1 because of OBS's newest update audio issue
I personally am still running on 26.1.1.
if you need a previous version of the plugin I might be able to assist.

if you have an OBS.Live issue for which you're consulting OBS Studio, they'll send you here, nothing we can do about it
if you have an issue with OBS Studio, we'll let you know at some point if we cannot assist and they're the address, I don't feel like there's anything wrong with that
we'll naturally do what we can to assist even if it's not our "jurisdiction"

so I had 0 idea about any ram issues, and I can't promise it won't happen but I can guarantee it might be unrelated to the plugin specifically, i'm not having ram issues using the plugin

and sorry to repeat but sound went bananas because of a bug in the latest OBS update

StreamElements and OBS are two separate companies. their product is OBS Studio and ours is a plugin that's installed on top of it called OBS.Live

I understand but if i went in there yesterday they were claiming obs live was acting up and i should uninstall it. I was like wait whot? So it felt to me that they were instigating that the issue was not related to OBS but rather the plugin being a pain it the butt.

so as someone that is just an end user I am not sure where the problem lies ...

i need to go on the information they give me, point is that when the issue happened that all my sources started to refresh -> similar like when I start up OBS fresh but during a stream. A bit later the sound would go all distortive with my ram peaking to almost 100% which never had before ever. Up that point it was unbearable to listen to the sound so i had either close down the stream and relaunch obs and start over.

I recorded 2 stream intros using the reverted version. While both files have sound when i play them on my pc, only one of them has the sound when i use them as a media source.

the settings are the same for both (I have them as separate scenes) yet one works perfectly and the other is silent

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.
