@high kernel Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

Earlier today after setting up some stream alerts for the first time, I was emulating them while I wasn't live. The alerts all popped up on the web browser for Stream Elements and simultaneously the expected and hoped for way on my OBS. When I started streaming later, the only alert that seemd to function, was the raid alert.

None of the follows showed up in my StreamElements events but the raid did. I can't figure out what happend.

I've also been getting an odd echo, that happens on occasion when I'm emulating my alerts.

@frigid stratus just double check that youve not accidentally set up 2 alert boxes (I know I know sounds dumb) but thats what I did and then hardly any alerts worked - emulating the alerts and getting an echo is because it plays on desktop audio through SE and also through OBS at the same time - it doesnt effect stream audio

@wooden horizon If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

What is the best setup for beign able to hear your audio notofications between StreamElemetns and OBS LIve / Studio? I have the audio in a separate scene in OBS, and separated by itself in StreamLEements and referred it in a browser. Output in OBS is set to monitor and output to my headphones and not muted. Stream hears it but I don't.

Or is there maybe away to outsource it to the separate external speakers for htat purpose?

@elfin nimbus You can enable monitoring for all sources, so that will force the audio routing into a specific output - aka your headphones. That should do the trick.

If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

Would anyone be able to help with video editing. I have it setup so my recordings save 2 different audio files. Mic and desktop audio. If I open the raw file theres no mic audio. But if I go to edit in any software theres no desktop audio

If you open that in the video editor, you will get 3 tracks - 1x video, 2x audio tracks (those are also split because stereo).

If you are not getting that, then your video format is not compatible with your video editing software on that side (multitrack audio)

Can anyone explain why a scene shows sound playing (from a local sound file) but no sound actually is happening?

The problem I’m having: in my scenes with a local media source, the sound intermittently stops working (for no reason I can determine). However, it appears to still be playing (the mixer bars are still active), but I am unable to hear the sound at all. When it’s working properly, I can switch between my computer speakers, headphones, and my streaming audio profile (iShowU + headphones) and hear the media play perfectly on each.

Sometimes quitting OBS and relaunching it fixes the problem, sometimes I need to restart my computer, and other times nothing seems to fix it, and I just...wait, and it starts working again later, eventually, without any changes being made. I have absolutely no idea what’s happening, and I'm pulling my hair out.

Everything else sound related still appears to be working, as far as I’ve determined it is only the media sources that are having these issues.

Anyone have any ideas?

(I don't have a log file with this issue, but I'll make sure to capture it next time it happens, which I'm sure will be any minute now.)

Hi, I seem to have an issue with a share alert, I don’t know if it is best asked here on in the Facebook support? I have my alerts set up in stream elements and all them come through correctly apart from when someone shares the stream. I never get the notification for this, am I doing something wrong? I’ve tried making the alert it’s own scene, deleting and re adding alert boxes. But nothing seems to work. Any ideas on why this may be?

@flint temple If you are not seeing likes/shares on your current stream or page, that might be due to how the privacy settings of the person liking/sharing your stream are set.
If they are set to private we won't be able to see the events.
Specifically for shares, if they share in private groups, we won't be able to see the event.

@rugged quail You need to figure out what is limiting you - overloaded encoder, overloaded GPU (not enough FPS in OBS) or something else is not correct (limited bandwith on your HDD for example).

ok, so I just started streaming on youtube and did a tiny test stream last night,m to test the subscriber alerts, I subbed to my channel using another account that I had, when I subbed, nothing appeared on my stream, no alert and nothing in my activity feed, I checked the streamelements website and it turned out that streamelements wast joined, i clicked join channel, tested the alert again this mornig offline, nothing happened, do I need to have someone sub on stream? Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

@limpid holly Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

Hi there! I am struggling with the custom bot name on my channel. I've met all the prerequisites in order to do it but for someone reason, it won't let me change the name. It just has two instances of setting the bot name to my channel name. Am I missing something here?

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

In the past couple weeks my OBSLive just suddenly decided it no longer wanted to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple different times but all that launches is just obs studio. None of the features of obslive exist and if I click on the option to "Switch to OBS Studio" it just tells me I am already in studio mode. The only other option it gives me is to uninstall obslive. Yes. Up until this past week I have normally been able to click on the StreamElements tab and there was an option to access my overlays to edit them. This would open a window to the Dashboard. As of this past Tuesday, that option is now missing from that menu.

The only way for me to access the Dashboard now is to open up my browser and go there.

• from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
• from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Hello everyone, I have problems with audio going out into the stream! I use 2 channels one is desktop and the other is my mic,I can see the levels, and when I press record I can hear sound from both audio channels however, when I start streaming only 1 audio channel is outputted. My quick solution is to stop the stream restart OBS.live and start streaming again. This solves the issue and works flawlessly afterwards. could it be a bug? is assume my settings are good since it works afterwards, however the error is repeatable and constant its my 5th consecutive time this happens to me. any help?

hello, im having trouble with my streamlabs obs, this issue only started recently, but ive been experiencing dropped frames in obs whenever i load a game up and try to play it on stream. Like i said this only happened recently i haven't changed any settings or anything, everything has been the same, but now i have the issue. I've tried to look up solutions to try to fix it an dive tried almost everything but nothing seems to be working, hopefully someone can help me because im not able to stream any games off my computer, i have no clue what to do.

@lilac hazel Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Hello, I know that to record 2 separate audio tracks for recording(not streaming) you must have selected one(desktop) on track 2, and one(mic) on track three, assuming that track one is for streaming only and i have both desktop audio and mic audio selected for streaming on track one. However for recording purposes, no matter what way i arrange the audio files, they only play both at the same time when overlapping a single audio track. I've arranged and tried all possible outcomes unless its late and I'm missing something silly or dumb I'm really stuck on getting audio from mic separate from desktop audio and to be heard back together at the same time. Iv also added the desktop and mic audio as sources, instead of using OBS default devices, still cant get both to play as separate audio files. Please help 😦

It is, to my knowledge, impossible to output at 10000 bitrate for example if you've set your bitrate for rendering at 4000 in the settings

That being said, I think there was a dynamic bitrate setting in OBS, which might cause this effect, but I doubt its meant to have OBS output at a higher bitrate then the one you've set, as in, for example 4000 bitrate

it will go down, if OBS detects it doesn't have enough upload speed, but not go over it.

All that being said, if you've set your bitrate at some unreasonable amount, OBS will attempt to stream at that bitrate, even though you might be forced on server side on Twitch on lower bitrate

And all that being said, trying to stream at 1250 bitrate for 720p will not produce a good stream quality

If by chance you can't stream at 3000 bitrate at all, then your internet speed (specifically upload speed) is not good enough or not stable enough

Best (and only way that I know how) is to make a playlist of the songs you want in VLC, then add it as a media source, then sort your overlays by scene.

maybe I'm explainin myself wrong. even if obs.live is an addon, is standalone right? on my mac I have 2 softwares, both of them. From OBS studio 26.1.2 the animated theme is running right. From Obs.live (26.0.2 of obs studio) is still. From Obs studio I have the browser source acceleration option, from the second one (Obs.live) not. Obs live says there is no update available

hi, so im having an issue where all my alerts show up on the OBS live streamelements activity feed except for any of my follows. The follows on the streamelements dashboard always stay at 0, whereas there is no issue with any other alert. @autumn kettle Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

Use the Twitch Bandwidth Test to find the best Twitch server to stream to. Set Duration to Medium. You can uncheck any regions you're not near.

After the test completes, click the Share Result button to upload a screenshot, which can then be copied and pasted here.

To reset goals:

• from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
• from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

Hey you gorgeus helpfull people. Im having some issues with the "order" of my overlays. In my CSGO overlay i'd love to be able to open "Friends" etc. without it showing on the stream, but only "workaround" i've figured out is to take the overlay i created in streamelements, convert it to a PNG and put it in OBS as an image instead of browser - so i can put it "above" the other sources, without it taking things such as Friends etc. Does that make sense, and does anybody know of a more simple way to do it? 😄

I am trying to customize my overlay and I added a new image, Image 26 in the screenshot. I am trying to make it appear behind some text but the editor won't let me reorder the layers. I assumed all I would have to do is drag and drop it under the text in the Layers but it doesn't let me drag and drop any layers. Am I missing something?

Update: Figured it out myself. This works fine when navigated to in browser but does not function at all when editing an overlay through OBS by clicking the "Open in StreamElements Overlay Editor" via the Source properties.

Alright I found a solution for the cookies/privacy stuff, the problem is obs side as the support said. The solution is to disconnect and then, when trying to reconnect, on the log-in page, you should be able to accept (or refuse) the cookies. Then after connecting, rerun obs, close and reopen (View->Docks) the twitch's docks.

Sadly no updates. We do not support OBS.Live on Linux, you could compile it yourself and run this unsupported "as is".

The normal OBS Studio will work fine with everything else we have.

In OBS you can add a Twitch account per profile. To add that account, it requires a Twitch authentication (as OBS.Live does). When you switch profiles, it switches Twitch account.

So it seems OBS is doing the exact same thing as OBS.Live, except to the Twitch servers directly rather than to the SE servers.

So in this case, since OBS is able to hold multiple accounts' authentication tokens at once, can't the same thing be done with OBS.Live and Twitch/SE accounts?

IIRC the docks are just browser sources? So it seems like switching managed channels in that dock would be doable? But I don't know your code ofc

Also highly unlikely. A normal relog with saved data is pretty much instant and does the job.

Yeah but it's just so awkward considering it doesn't save passwords in the login dialog and everything else doesn't need a relog

Hi, hopefully this is the right area to post this question, new to stream elements, iv'e tried everything to get alerts to work, the tests work but doesn't show up when i simulate a follow from an alternate account.... also the only thing showing up in feed are when i was raided or hosted, not showing recent follows or anything like that... not sure what else to try

So changing the entire login system in the OBS.Live plugin to change the workflow is not something we would put a high priority on. @kindred obsidian

Being a dev myself I understand the pain of trying to maintain a closed initial system design
