There are no "best settings".
Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

  2. Download and install OBS Studio from https://obsproject.com/
  3. If it doesn't crash, install SE.Live too.

  • It's fixed? Nice!

  • It crashes again?

  1. Repeat steps 1 and 2
  2. Duplicate the current "Scene Collection" at the very top of OBS, call it something like "Backup" and remove all browser sources in that backup
  3. Install SE.Live and see if it still crashes
  • If yes, repeat steps 1 and 2, leave SE.Live uninstalled, tell us that it didn't work and use your old default scene collection again.

  2. Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
  3. Stop your stream/recording.
  4. Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste the link here.

Note: If you do not see an obsproject.com URL, you will need to update OBS Studio to version 22+.

My chatstats page now works, but now the numbers don't add up anymore. I did not change my username since I got the stats page working. The total number of messages sent and the amount of messages by the top 3 users (myself, streamelements, and fossa) aren't aligned. It stays that total messages are 14 when in fact it's 25 (me: 17; fossa: 5; streamelements: 3) is there anything you could do or that I could do to get the numbers to be in sync again?

hi, a while ago I came here with the problem that I can't see anything else but followers on stream elements (activity feed and overlays), someone here asked for my previous twitch name and told me that the problem was fixed. however, it is not fixed yet and it might have to do with maybe a different name belonging to my account. I have one more question, is there any way I could possibly stop the scene/overlay from playing when I do not have it selected? For example I am in the stream scene but if I go back to the starting soon scene the timer is counting under 5 minutes which means it still continues playing in the background. Example: (it should be 5 minutes but it went down to 1:24 while I did not click on that scene)

Download the OBS installer from their website: https://obsproject.com

Install OBS without letting it run after completion.
Install SE.Live and run after finishing (No need to check the OBS option).
Disconnect and reconnect your account in OBS Settings > Stream.

If a viewer tipped through PayPal but no information appears in your StreamElements account, this generally means PayPal has held the tip for verification.
Until PayPal clears the tip and sends back a confirmation to your StreamElements account, no information will appear there and no alert will play, as that confirmation is the only way for us to be aware of a successful transaction.
There is a posibility that the tip may have been sent as an eCheque/eCheck - these tips can take from 7 up to 21+ days to show up on our side. Tippers can usually cancel these.
If you believe there may be an issue with the transaction, you'll need to contact PayPal support as StreamElements is only a passthrough service and never actually gets involved with the transaction or touches the money

Hello! I am new to this so I apologize if I don't know what I'm doing. I have seen a few people using the streamelements chat stats feature for twitch and i'd love to be able to use this to keep track of my monthly top chatters. Is that something that is possible with the chat stats? I haven't been able to check it out because I get a 404 error. I saw other people have this issue so here is my information:

So I did a 12 hour stream with the last 10 hours of the sponsored game and the se.sponsorships campaign page is not giving me credit for the stream. Also there are at least 3 people who downloaded and played the game that I did not get credit for on the counter.

Make sure you have completed all of the steps and 'started' the campagin (this is different from accepting the offer and starting the set-up).
I have had some issues with tracking in the past, open a ticket on the SE website and provide a link to the Vod (include any appropriate time stamps)

I opened a ticket as the first person who used the link and played and told me in stream and could see through alliance in game that he completed the correct requirements. He also dropped like $50 in the game already.

Opened a second ticket after the stream was over and saw It didn't give me any credit and that at least 2 more people I know used the link and I didn't get credit.

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

I can't get my chat box to show up on OBS Studio. It shows up properly on the overlay in the StreamElements menu, but no matter what I do, it simply will not show up on screen in OBS! I've tried restarting the computer, disabling the hardware acceleration setting for browser sources, clearing the cache, refreshing, disconnecting and reconnecting my Twitch account to OBS, logging out of SE and back in... NOTHING has worked. Is this a problem that's just happening on SE's side?

  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

tried using Viewer Queue again, still getting an error. 1 person entered successfully and everybody else got the message: "Hmm. Looks like there was an issue running that command. Try again, and if it’s still not working, contact support."

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

I'm able to get subs, raids, followers, tips, hosts and purchases to trigger an emotesplosion, but for some reason I'm unable to get cheers to trigger it. Have nearly every emote selected for it, sized it at 1920x1080 with it centered and have the emote size set to 100px. I also have the "use the entire screen for emotes" ticked, but even with all this set I got nothing when I tried emulating cheers. Everything else works with these settings, just not the cheers. Hi! So I've run into an issue as of today. When I launched SELive, it doesn't appear to be connecting properly to my twitch. It didn't show the notification for when someone followed, and didn't update the activity feed in either SELive or the Stream Elements dashboard. My overlay also didn't pop up the follow, even though last week everything seemed to be working fine.

I have a question regarding configuring the language of the obs modules for the twitch chat because the chat and stats modules both are displayed in hungarian even though my system, my streamelements language in the browser and everything is set to english. Nothing in this has fixed my issue even while not streaming my scene, whichever one im one completely freezes and i'm allowed to still move around on obs and click things but when I try to change to a new scene nothing happens the scene is still frozen, while streaming it drops my kb to zero and cuts my stream on the front end (twitch)

Got another for yah. I've noticed something on my end when using the stream elements media requests and the "show on screen" function is on. When the initial song that played is over and it goes to the next song the pause button changes to a play button, but the video keeps on playing, both visibly and audibly. Since last time I've also tried resetting router, reinstalling windows 10, same issue, upgraded to Windows 11, same issue.. It could be that the bug has re-appeared in a new release of OBS, if you are using Track 2, I recommend changing it to a different track. But I still believe this is internet related so I suggest running a ping test while you're streaming to see if you lose connection.

I have an issue with points: Some of my viewers can not redeem store items from chat with the !redeem [store item name here] because StreamElements says that they don't have enough points, but they literally have enough. Is it required to authorize with the StreamElements Twitch panel for a viewer to be able to redeem with chat commands or is it only needed to redeem via the StreamElements Twitch Panel. These viewers mostly use mobiles and tablets.

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

Hello, i’m having trouble with alert overlays not showing in OBS. Have set dimensions to 1920x1080, pasted URL into browser source and even checked ‘Shutdown source when not visible’ since I’ve seen that suggested. Tried refreshing cache of current page also. Hi all, everytime I open OBS it says my twitch account has been disconnected and I need to re-connect which works fine until I re-open OBS and have to repeat these steps. Bug report. while following the tts set up instructions, i could not get the message to be read. after faffing with it i discovered that there is a missing step in the guide. when making the overlay, you must open tts settings and enable it. please add this line to the guide. "Once you have removed the assets, click on the tts settings. Enable the tts function and choose the other settings as you like." Also, not all the voices are working. If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

Can anyone help? I'm having very slight micro stutters on stream and, while quality is great otherwise, it annoys me and makes it really hared to use vods for tiktok and youtube clips. ive included a highlight of what im talking about, along with my log from said stream. I did analyze and changed my audio sample rates to match and deleted some unused capture sources, but in the back of my mind, i dont think these were the reasons for the stutters. any help?

I always cap my frames or put on v-sync though, and i have a 3070ti running games on 1080p. I could be wrong but i feel that my gpu has plenty of head space... Not arguing or anything.

I can only tell you what the log and analyzer say. In the log it has:

15:36:49.528: Output 'adv_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 9090 (0.8%)
15:36:49.528: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 9090/1089363 (0.8%)

Which means that your GPU is maxed out.
