  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

@fickle seal If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

Howdy. I have a few questions pertaining to the StreamElements bot functionality. I see there is the option to use the arguments variable by using ${1:} (one or many). I would like to make an argument that is none or many (optional argument). But neither ${0:1} or ${:1} appear to work. Is there a way to specify an optional parameter? If it matters, argument is nested inside a UrlFetch call.

@boreal star you need to log in with your twitch login. Top menu, Streamelements > logout button, then log back in. This should fix the error.

No need for a picture, just follow those steps in the exact order:
Dashboard - part channel - sign out - sign back in with your twitch channel login - join channel

@silver idol The default resolution for StreamElements overlays (theme and custom) is 1920x1080. Please add them in OBS at their full resolution and use CTRL+F to fit to screen if necessary. You can then downscale your stream in OBS settings > Video if you'd like https://i.imgur.com/6bWXxjR.png

We had that error with old Ground Control software running multiple instances (check via Task manager if that is the case).

Why can it be that it no longer marks me when they make me a host with 1 viewers? Before it worked fine, and a while ago it doesn't work anymore.
Some of my viewers gave me hosts to help share, and now the alert does not appear (nor in the activity list) when they do.
PS: In the overlay configuration, I have enabled it to notify all hosts.

Hello, I am trying to figure out countdown command from a specific follower count that hasn't been met yet. For example, a streamer has said they will do something once 1000 followers are met so we're looking for a chat command that would display how many followers we are away from reaching that goal.

Custom Fonts

Steps:

  1. Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
  2. In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
  3. Click on Enable Custom Font
  4. Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

Hey there, unsure if this is the right place to ask about StreamElement widgets, so if it is then please excuse me and let me know where to head :)

Anyways, I know that I can add a chat widget, but it's essentially very limiting - however, I'm aware CSS can be used, but I'm not really sure how to do that. On StreamLabs I've edited the pre-existing CSS in their chat widget to look like this (GIF posted). Essentially, it has some padding, badges, and custom font, along with a 'sliding' animation (which I've seen a lot of streamers have, although usually from the right to left).

Just unsure what I can do, since the chat widget by default doesn't have a CSS edit thing. Hopefully somebody can give me a hand/advice, thanks!

Hey there,
I found an old post here in discord from the middle of the last year that describes my problem. Unfortunately the problem could not be resolved at that time. I hope that has changed in the meantime.
I would like to play alerts with files of different lengths. One alert would be 10 seconds and the other for example 20 seconds.
Is that now possible or is there a workaround?

Is there a reason Bot Modules will spontaneously turn off "Chat alerts"? I've tried editing the "Followers" and other tabs and it both resets when I go back to said tabs as well as just turning off "Both Modules".

hi I'm having artifacting/pixelation on gameplay when there's movement. But when gameplay is still, the video quality is clear and good. Can someone help? my resolution is 1600x900, streaming at 6k bitrate with good internet that can handle it and encoding with x264 at faster. I feel like I've messed with everything already.

I've been having issues with my commands not working when using OBS with Twitch. I've unmodded, parted, redone everything, but it still doesn't work. Am I missing something somewhere?

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

How do I enable Host notifications for StreamElements. I can't get them to work for my overlay alerts when people host my channel. I have an alert box for Hosts, but the host alerts never come through and always silent, even the bot messages for hosts never come through either.

Due to changes to Twitch API, we have filtered out hosts and will only show these ones on your activity feed:

  • All hosts coming from an online channel with at least 1+ viewer
  • Auto host events with at least 1 viewer - only from a channel that just went offline
    Note: If you see "X channel has hosted you" with no viewers on the back, that is considered an offline host or a host with 0 viewers, we do not show these.
    Note for Mixer streamers: The above 2 filters currently apply for Mixer and we are aware its actually not how Mixer hosts work. We do plan on changing it, but no ETA on when.

10 minutes of watch time is given to those in chat when the loyalty points are handed out (every 10 minutes). Therefore, loyalty must be enabled to watch time to work properly.
There is no direct link between watch time and all-time points.
It can’t be calculated from the number of all-time points a user has because subs may earn points at a faster rate and !bonus all command increases all-time points for users in the chat at that time.
Giving points to a single user do not affect all-time, only when giving to all in chat.

I was trying to set up bot timer to effectively ${redeem asoundalert} regularly, which apparently isn't a thing bot timers can do, fair enough, so I then tried to just create a custom bot command to do the redeem part, restricted to mods (the bot is a mod, yes) with a unique keyword (or phrase, more like) set in the hopes of having a bot timer say the keyphrase to trigger the sound alert redeem. again, no dice, I'm assuming because the bot is configured to ignore itself? dunno. this is about as far as I got before giving up for the night, if there are any suggestions for a way to trigger a sound redeem automatically on a schedule I'm all ears! or if someone tells me I'm an idiot and that won't ever work, I'll stop putting brainpower into it, lol. thanks in advance ya legends!

If you've copy/pasted the chat overlay across multiple scenes, check to see if you pasted it via Duplicate or via Reference. If you duplicated it, it created a completely separate chat and that's no good. If it's referenced, it should all be the same chat and won't refresh no matter which scene you're on. Finally, check in the Properties that the chat overlay isn't set to shut down whenever it's not visible.

Hi, to create custom Commands just head to https://streamelements.com/dashboard/bot-commands/custom-commands and create a new command for your counter. If you already have one you can just edit the existing one
The command name can be any (free) name you want and as response you can just set:
${count yourCounter} to increase it by one or
${count yourCounter -1} to decrease it
with ${getcount yourCounter} you can get the current value of your counter without modifying it.
yourCounter in these examples can of course be set to any name you want

I have a problem with streaming. Firstly (like a month ago) I started streaming on youtube, no problem with that. But lot of our fans want from us to stream on twitch. So, we connected streamelements with twitch account, we add some overlays and fancy stuff, but now, when I want to start stream on twitch, streamelements always give me "start streaming to youtube" board. I add twitch stream key to streamelements, but I cant run it. I see chat and settings of Twtich, but I cant stream there, because streamelements, as I said, always offer me only Youtube.

@crystal bear there are two things that are needed for the channel points to show channel reports reward 1 must be signed in via twitch account not streamkey and 2 when you copy and past the custom docc the link will show as if you capitalize your name but twitch sees you as all lower case make sure your name is all lower caes when inputting the custo docc πŸ™‚

Account Merging - Please note:

  • Merging accounts only allows faster ways to switch between accounts
  • Merging accounts does not allow data sharing between accounts - different streaming platforms, different type of events
  • Merging accounts allows duplicating/sharing overlays between the accounts

If you understand the limitations of merging and want to proceed, please find the JWT tokens (!jwt) from both accounts you want to merge and you will be directed to DM them to a staff member

Until PayPal clears the tip and sends back a confirmation to your StreamElements account, no information will appear there and no alert will play, as that confirmation is the only way for us to be aware of a successful transaction. If you believe there may be an issue with the transaction, you'll need to contact PayPal support as StreamElements is only a passthrough service and never actually gets involved with the transaction or touches the money

To have StreamElements run ads for you, do the following:

  1. The bot StreamElements is added as an Editor to your Twitch channel here: https://dashboard.twitch.tv/community/roles

I'm having a problem where my emulation of events happens perfectly, but in live stream nothing happens at all. Also, my StreamElements Activity Feed isn't showing any of my followers, etc that do reflect on my Twitch Stream Manager. I have disconnected and reconnected and reinstalled/updated software as well as followed a number of Youtube tutorials and nothing has remedied it. Any help offered here would be amazing. I do have the sources at the top of the list and have SoundAlerts working just fine. It's anything related to my StreamElements Alerts - emulates perfectly, absolutely nothing during live stream. @steep rivet If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

Our Dashboard and Overlay Editor are Chromium Optimized. We strongly recommend using Chrome. Opera GX and the new Microsoft Edge Chromium might work closest to Chrome as its also Chromium built. Firefox also works, but some things might look a bit different or not work. We do not recommend using Internet Explorer with our Dashboard as it does not support functions.
If the website doesn’t work on chrome, be sure none of your plugins is blocking our website or clear your cookies. You can try if the website works in an incognito tab.

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

I can see the "main" alert has your rupee, but that won't play because of the presence of the variations. You either need to edit the variations or delete them if you don't want variations at all.

@lament blade If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

  • from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
  • from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

Custom Fonts

Steps:

  1. Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
  2. In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
  3. Click on Enable Custom Font
  4. Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

@tropic thunder Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

You would need to use the Media Request widget, but that needs moderation on whats being played. Considering you mention you do sleep streams(which are actually against Twitch's TOS), you need to make sure the incoming videos from YT are being moderated, else you might get DMCA strike

Hi I'm having an issue whereby the total number of followers that's showing is up to date, but the name of the latest follower hasn't updated. Weirdly, the total number of followers in the Follower Goal widget is out of sync (and outdated) with the Total Followers widget. Any suggestions?

@obtuse cradle If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

  • All hosts coming from an online channel with at least 1+ viewer
  • Auto host events with at least 1 viewer - only from a channel that just went offline

Note: If you see X channel has hosted you with no viewers on the back, that is considered an offline host or a host with 0 viewers, we do not show these."

Hello... I'm experiencing users disappearing from the leader board. I had 901 users on 1/13, then it dropped to 417 users on 1/14 and it's now only showing 269 users as of today. I haven't done anything but add points in my streams. Is there a known issue?

In the StreamElements chatBOT I created a Custom command...
Settings>Command name !addpoints4
Settings>User level Everyone
Settings>Response !addpoints all 100
Advanced>Command cost 1000
When I type this command in my chat I get charged the 1000 points but it just says/writes the Response in the chat but doesn't actually run the command in wrote in the Response.

Hi, recently the past few days I will be streaming just fine and then randomly twitch will say that I am offline while obslive says that I am still streaming. I have done the twitch test to find the best server to be on and am using an ethernet connection. The time streamed before it goes offline on twitch's end is random and I have been searching for an answer all over but cannot find one. Any help is appreciated πŸ™‚

Hey, having an interesting problem with stream elements follow alerts sometimes blurring out the username of the person who is following. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes? I'm wondering if it's auto-mod but... Last week it blurred out heresjohnny and I dont think that trips any spam filters.
