Anyone found a work around for 1 player solo portal bots?

They add more flag capture points and I believe the HQ's of normal conquest become capture points in escalation so I guess in a way they are bigger maps

Please update the server browser so that only servers with players appear in the list and they are sorted by ping as soon as you click the "Search for Server" button. Once this small change is implemented, the Portal server browser will quickly gain popularity. There are plenty of players who check the browser, but for the most part, it only shows useless servers. Our server was in the list recently, and it was full 24/7. But you can’t get into this list because it has ridiculous filters set as the default...

It’s a shame that the night mode is over.
Probably because you were boosted into Recommended tab and it's not the case now. For full list of servers you have to set Free slots to Any in Filters and sort by player count. And then hit Refresh.
Yeah, we’re aware of that. The issue is that the first page is full of empty servers, while the ones that are actually being played don’t show up — or only when they already have a few players. So you end up having to search for them.
It would just be much easier if servers with active players were shown right away. That’s what this is about.

Can someone explain how to mitigate this bug:
when a server has open slots, and I click to join, the game does nothing. No error, no queue, no joining.
But as soon as it’s full I can queue in but never get in successfully

That is a load of bull.
Veterans were installing the game off a CD and it didn't need no extra app to play. You log into your account directly in the game and just play it.
Origin was a thing in the early 2010s, you could add your old game keys to your Origin account, and it was mandatory if you wanted to play BF3 and later games.
"EA App" as we know it came out in 2020
And then Battlefield games being on Steam is the best thing EA could have done. I re-purchased both BF3 and BF4 on Steam when they were both 1 dollar.
Still, many people have the game on the EA App, and what you’re saying is already well known.
Yes, the EA App definitely needs improvements.
But the fact remains that a lot of players don’t have Battlefield on Steam. In our community, we have around 100 members, and only 2 of them own the game on Steam — the rest are using the EA App.
If you scale that up, Steam only accounts for about 2% of the player base and is therefore not really representative.
A more realistic estimate would be that around 10–20% of the player base uses Steam.

But there’s a lot more potential there.
You could, for example, customize your weapons, manage platoons, or even link your stats directly with Discord.
And honestly, the EA app on PC should be able to do all of that as well.
Right now, it feels more like:

Talking about relevance, when the original point I made if you scroll up was that it’s no wonder pop is dropping when bugs are around that halt people playing servers completely. Crazy how mentioning steam numbers dropping triggers every battledad into defending the game. I log on and about 80% of people I played with have moved on, and that’s through the in-game hub showing console, PC and whatever app people play through together.

Glad you’re enjoying it, however that’s your personal experience. Mine, over the last 1-2 months has been less and less regulars on my friends lists and long standing bugs such as the one I listed above that completely stops you joining a portal server (the only place you can play hardcore)

A server browser would be desirable.
I mean the current version of Portal is so underwhelming to the point that there is no community could be fostered properly. The same problem with Halo Infinte. The browser is one example, but the bots, terrible serach function, and the quick play function to portal all are just terrible. Compared what BF4 and previous games have shown it is a shock how modern companies can't make a server browser anymore.
That is why I am askng around if the devs is really trying to work on Portal because if it is done properly then we would see a game that can live beyond BF6 life cycle

Well, those experience creators chose to add bots. You mean a toggle to filter out servers without bots? And, yeah. Adding custom maps to Verified Experiences would be nice.

Well even if the devs put the verified experience every time I join it is in a server that has over 100 ping. So there is no point to use that function

Yes but when I look into it. It is 0 players mainly. When I tried to filter for player count it returns with 0 players.

Hello, is there anyone here who would be willing to help us set up a small tournament server?
We’re a group from the Czech Republic looking to create a tournament environment for players. We’ve already hosted a few tournaments.
We’d like to expand and give players the chance to compete against each other in a variety of match types. Unfortunately, the editor is sometimes too complicated for us, and we need help setting up our somewhat specialized server.
How about a dynamic bot toggle in portal settings. Once a player count hits 2/3 server max players the server removes bots permanently from the server and it becomes full stat tracking. Many people in portal have no interest in playing against bots, especially with hardcore settings when they still have 100hp. Most people also don’t have the patience to fill up a non bot server. I know communities are still doing it but why make the portal player base work harder to get stats. Otherwise just make all verified/official experiences regardless of bots full stat tracking. You use bots in main matchmaking and stats track, no?
this would be good to have. Bots are useful for "seeding" servers (getting players to fill up the server, people don't just want to sit there and wait, they want to play)
Maybe instead of the "bot backfill" option, this could be a separate setting? "Seeding bots"?
You have to BUILD a community. It's a lot of work just as well as the ton of work it is to even have a Portal SDK and allow creators to make custom logic portal experiences. The browser is not where you should expect players to join your experiences. Create your own community events. Have your own discord server, build a player base. Being featured on the community page in game isnt even that important. At least to me it isn't

I saw them announce the same thing, but that recent winter offensive was 30hz. It might have been a mistake, but it was unplayable.
Even when Verified Experiences were 30hz, they didn't lag. Could be that Custom experience is not optimised.

I saw countless posts about it, and I experienced it for myself. You'd get whipped back across entire sections of the map, and this was also a verified featured experience.

No, that was still custom experience that was granted full xp. It's because custom experiences are using the code and it might not be optimised.

I'm having a problem on my server because I've set up multiple teams. However, only Teams 1 and 2 can spawn; the others can't. I think this is because they aren't assigned to any team, even though I've set up 10 of them. Could someone advise me on how to configure the Rules Editor to assign more than just two teams?
Your map file needs to be adapted to have headquarters for the according teams. Or you have to force deploy the players via script

Our Operations ZHSPM mode was featured over a month ago but has since lost full XP, and we haven’t received any follow-up. Meanwhile, some non-featured modes still appear to have full XP.
Could you help clarify how XP eligibility is determined and whether there’s a path to restore full XP?

We really appreciate the outreach and communication from the community team. I did want to gently clarify that, from our perspective, we haven’t had much direct follow-up on these issues over the past few weeks.
Most recently, we reached out and didn’t receive a response for about a week. During that time, we noticed other modes appearing to have full XP despite not being featured, while our previously featured mode no longer has full XP and was indicated to have no XP per current guidelines.
We fully understand there may be factors we’re not seeing, and we’re not looking to point fingers—just hoping to better understand the process and stay aligned. We’re committed to supporting the community and want to make sure we’re building in the right direction.

There is this long standing bug in portal. Servers have match completion xp enabled and when match ends we dont get match completion xp and neither victory bonus

Portal seems to be alright on PS5 but every single server is just full of bots. Ive not seen a lobby with more than 10-15 people in it. Even on there own portal servers. Dont know if this update has gone as planned for Dice so far.

well I am not the most skilled player, and similar to most of you, we work for a living.
So after a hard day of being a slave to capitalism, i just wanna sit down, relax, and shoot things without having to think nor try too hard, and get a little bit of progression. BF 2042 did this perfectly in my opinion with their solo/coop mode.
Sure the exp is reduced, but you can still actually earn some meaningful progression albeit takes a longer compared to pvp. Your challeges are also limited but that's fine with me as well.
BF6 promised full exp portal support, INCLUDING but not limited to solo vs bots play. I purchased this game and it's deluxe edition due to this fact. And after like what, 2-3 weeks? they removed it. It's such a rugpull and a solid 180 from what was promised and the reason I and many others purchased the game for.
Now I understand the exp farms where they remove all weapons from the bots and just get hundreds of kills. Then why can't they implement a solo/coop game mode like in 2042?
Another way is the more restrictions you place on the bots/map in your custom game - less exp you get. They can't use snipers? -10%. They can't use snipers and grenades? that's -20% total.

I bought Battlefield 6 at full price because I was expecting a PvE solo Portal mode with bots, just like it was promised before launch. I really enjoyed playing Battlefield 2042 in Portal with bots, and that was the main reason I decided to buy Battlefield 6.
At first, I genuinely enjoyed the game while the solo Portal with bots was available. However, as soon as that option was removed, I completely lost interest. That mode was the only way I truly enjoyed playing the game, as I have no interest in PvP.
I’m very disappointed with this decision. It feels like the needs of players who prefer PvE experiences were completely ignored. I haven’t played Battlefield 6 for over a month now because of this change, and I don’t plan to return unless the solo bot experience is brought back.
I sincerely hope you reconsider and restore the ability to play solo with bots. Otherwise, not only will I stop playing Battlefield 6 permanently, but I will also stop buying future Battlefield titles. This has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience for me as a player who supported the game specifically for its PvE content.
I also bought BF6 with solo mode in mind, It was the best feature of bf2042 and I didn't expect it to get removed. BF6 did not release with solo mode, so I thought that Portal was meant to cover this niche. But alas, all ways to play against bots with any xp ware taken away just like that.
2042 did solo/co-op mode correct, same with audio. Too bad BF6 downgraded those somehow.
For me the challenges should be attainable maybe at a slower pace but still doable in Portal created experiences. I would like to give feedback. Positive feedback. I just played my own experience zrqbk without any new changes. This new update has made this experience much better. The sounds, graphics, and the way bots use vehicles and move around. It is much more immersive and fun. Thank you to the dev team for improving the game. I have a request. I'm not sure why but the enemy team bots sometimes do not respawn for some time. I'll check the score board and the enemy is all dead and maybe a minute later they all start spawning again. Weird. It happens on more than one of my created experiences which they all use the same rule blocks or settings. I'm not sure why. I set the bots to respawn immediately and that doesn't fix it. It is zrqbk if someone has time to check it out. Anyway, thank you for listening to the community.
It’s actually quite simple: the majority of players want to go back to Battlelog, like we had after BF4. Since the introduction of Portal, player numbers have dropped. It’s obvious that dedicated servers are better received.
Games like this are kept alive by clans.
Dedicated servers mean no server costs for EA. Players pay for their own servers and, in return, have the freedom to decide what runs on them and which settings are used.
Clans can properly administrate again.
There was a server browser where players could easily find servers — something that is partly impossible in Portal if you don’t know the exact server name.
The customization options were not as limited as they are in Portal. We had real freedom.
There was team switching, which is essential on servers for balancing teams and enabling proper competition.
For many players, matchmaking systems are still a problem — they see it as a Call of Duty system.
Battlefield players don’t play Call of Duty. They are here for servers, gameplay, large-scale warfare, and clan vs clan experiences.
Back then, we had Conquest Large, Conquest Small, and Close Quarters. All maps were available across different modes.
When playing offline, there was also PvE as a multiplayer-style experience.
I think it’s time to bring Battlefield back onto the right track:
With a proper server browser, dedicated servers, spectator mode, Commander, platoons, offline mode, and DLCs instead of seasons.
The last four titles have shown that going back is exactly what the players want.
I believe this is a core system that should be part of the game from the very beginning, not something added later.
Many players still have very positive memories of BF3 and BF4. After that, things started to change, and you can also see that reflected in the player numbers and overall reception. A big part of this seems to be related to changes in the core system.
From a community perspective, Portal currently feels limited. Over time, many communities have disappeared or moved on to other games. Compared to previous titles, the system has more restrictions, which makes it harder for communities to build and maintain their own experiences.
I’m always open to new ideas and innovations. But removing or limiting core systems that worked well across multiple Battlefield titles — especially ones that many players are still asking for — may not be the best approach.
I’ve followed the development through BF1, BFV, and BF2042, and with BF6 I felt it was important to speak up and share this feedback.
For example, in a team-based game, features like team switching are very important for balance. Also, Portal feels like it is constantly being reworked, while at the same time offering fewer customization options than before. From a player perspective, this can be frustrating.
I just wanted to share this feedback in a constructive way. I hope it’s helpful and maybe can be considered going forward.
Since BF1, there has been a common sentiment among parts of the community that Battlefield started to feel more like it was influenced by Call of Duty.
For many players, Call of Duty represents a more short-term approach — focused on frequent releases and monetization, prioritizing quantity over long-term quality and depth. Because of that, some players feel that Battlefield has moved away from its original identity.
A lot of players still wish for the developers who worked on BF4 to come back. What they really mean is that something feels missing — the sense that Battlefield was built with long-term vision, strong community features, and a clear identity.
Instead, some players now feel like the focus has shifted more towards quick releases and moving on to the next title, rather than building and supporting a game over time.
That’s why many in the community express a desire to return to that earlier philosophy and direction.

I’m 38 and I play PvE only—because that’s what I enjoy. Not everyone plays games to compete, and there’s nothing wrong with that. PvP players often act like PvE is pointless, but that’s just their perspective, not a universal truth.
I already have competition in my life. I’ve been training in fitness for 19 years and have won gold medals—so I don’t need games to prove anything. For me, gaming is about relaxing, not grinding against people who spend countless hours trying to stay on top.
PvP requires a level of time and commitment I’m simply not interested in, and more importantly, I don’t find it fun. That’s why I choose PvE.
That’s also why it was frustrating to see that Battlefield 6 removed the option to play solo against bots. I’ve played Battlefield 1, 3, 4, and 2042, and I enjoyed 2042 the most, mainly because of the PvE Portal where you can play solo with bots, and I’ve always enjoyed the series my way. Taking away that option cuts out players like me completely.
I hope they bring back solo PvE, because without it, I’m not interested in playing at all.
Some people say, “just go play custom offline with bots.” Yes, but there’s no XP there, and not everyone knows how to set up a proper custom match so everything works the way it should—like in verified modes, where everything is much simpler and more straightforward.
I have a suggestion for the developers: if you don’t plan to bring back solo Portal verified modes, then at least make custom matches work like verified modes—simple and easy to use. You don’t even need to include XP; just give us access to all weapons and unlock everything, but only for custom offline play. That way it’s fair—we wouldn’t be bothering anyone or affecting anyone’s progression, since it would exist purely in offline mode.

I consider myself an objectively skilled player with extensive experience across various shooters, genres, and high end competitive play.
While I enjoy PvP, I also value PvE a lot. For me, it’s not always about being the best, it’s about fun and enjoyment first.
Since I usually maintain a very aggressive playstyle in PvP, I sometimes just want to wind down and relax. That’s where PvE comes into play for me.
I was satisfied with the pre-release Marketing of BF6, in fact, the promise of full PvE progression was a major reason why I bought the game almost immediately.
It’s the part of BF2042 i enjoyed most. And honestly, i might not have picked up BF2042 otherwise. Hence, i played a lot after launch, and i’d estimate that about 40% of my playtime was in PvE whenever my friends weren't online.
On a more personal note, i struggle with severe social anxiety. Playing solo PvE is stress free for me, i can relax, experiment with different weapon builds, and just play at my own pace, trying out various stuff. That´s something i’m less likely to do in a PvP environment because of my competitive nature. And since the social anxiety is one of my main struggles, i often find myself not "ready" to play PvP on my own.
Ever since the player requirements in Portal changed, I rarely play the game alone for this very reason.
However, I don't enjoy PvE without any sense of progression. So, here’s my thought:
Would it be feasible to allow solo PvE (specifically bringing back the 1-player start) for verified experiences, perhaps with a 50% XP modifier compared to PvP? Or alternatively, grant full (or half) XP as long as core settings of verified modes (other than match length, ticket count, and bot backfill) remain untouched?
I personally don't want Portal to turn into only PvE, because that would limit visiblity of community made PvP experiences. The best solution I can offer is to have a separate "PvE" tab in Portal, and separate community servers from PvE experiences. That way, if someone wants to play a PvE experience it won't make it harder for people to find PvP servers.
Ideally we would have a Battlelog-like browser for community Verified servers (non-pve) and then a separate PvE browser for those experiences. Custom-made experiences using the SDK might need to be separated out into their own tab as well

if I had any photoshop or editing skills i'd make a mockup of what the browser might look like but i'm not that talented 
a really robust Portal browser that takes from the Battlelog browser would assuage a lot of the community's concerns about a server browser too. The reason why there's still a lot of spirited feedback for a browser is because the portal one currently needs more features to really make it worth using, and I don't think a lot of people who just use the regular matchmaking system (playlists) come to Portal to play base-game Verified experiences very often. Portal has a healthy hardcore community, but there is a distinct lack of popular base-game mode servers like Rush, Conquest or Breakthrough with vanilla (or vanilla-like) rules. I just think there needs to be more of an incentive, and a better browser like Battlelog had would be a great step in that direction

Actually, I don’t think it would be that simple for Battlefield 6, since the Battlelog system was built around dedicated servers, not matchmaking — and not around Portal servers either.
That could actually make it more complex for Battlefield 6, and honestly, I’m not even sure it would still be fully feasible anymore.
They’ve just confirmed on X: server browser, spectator mode, and platoons.

From what I've heard, the server browser is not for Portal, but for multiplayer in general. What I think they're doing is combining official servers with Portal verified community servers into one browser. That way people can matchmake into Portal servers but also search for individual servers. Could be wrong, but I think that's what makes the most sense here
Because we already have Server Browser and Persistant servers. It could be that just official ea servers will be there as well.

Hello friends! I'm quite excited but also quite worried about the ships that will be part of the two naval maps coming in Season 4...
So, my concern boils down to the aircraft carriers and other large vessels
that will be included in the Tsuru Reef and Wake Island naval maps. I remember that in Battlefield 1942 (2002) we had aircraft carriers, destroyers, and even submarines, all of which were maneuverable, could take damage, and were logically sinkable.
But after Bf 1942, this type of mechanic was never seen again in the Battlefield games that followed...
Therefore, through this brief account, I ask that DICE bring back the golden age of 100% clickable (navigable, maneuverable, and sinkable) aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines in the upcoming Season 4!
If this request is granted, you can be sure that not only I, but many other players around the world will be very happy.

That's the difficult thing, on my end it runs well. Replicating the issue is really difficult, even when I try to stress test. I've got some additional changes coming in the next update which might help including some improvements to the UI performance.

I still have a few questions: why is there no night vision in dark mode, and why not make the map itself dark instead of making it a server-wide dark mode setting? That could prevent the blinding effects on the other maps and when spawning.

I already have a really great idea:
Bring back real dedicated servers instead of Portal. Add a central website for community maps, where server owners can upload maps via FTP directly to their rented servers. This would give communities real freedom again, with custom content and long-term active servers.
Battlefield 1942 already showed how strong a system like this can make a community.
They should stop making dark mode server-based and instead create specific maps directly as night versions. The same should apply to winter mode: selected maps could return as dedicated winter variants with fitting design and atmosphere.
That way it would be map-based instead of server-based. It would prevent issues where other maps become unintentionally brighter or cause visual problems.
You would have properly designed map versions instead of global server settings affecting everything at once.
This way, you could also run Rush maps and Conquest maps in the same map rotation without any issues, because everything would be stored on the maps themselves instead of being configured directly on the server.

Then we would need a proper admin tool again.
When an admin writes a message, they should be able to choose whether it appears as a large server-wide announcement for everyone or just as a normal chat message.
Admins should also have simple commands such as /kick name or /ban name.
Important server settings should return as well, such as sniper limits, disabling certain sights like thermals, and the ability to share admin rights with trusted community members.
This is especially important for Hardcore servers, where some players join only to teamkill their own team. The current auto-punish system is not enough, because after dying they simply start again. Proper admin tools are needed to deal with that quickly.
The old anti-camping system should also return, where players would be killed automatically if they camped too long in restricted areas. That worked very well in the past.
While that would be cool it simply wouldn't be used enough to justify the huge amount of work it would take to implement. Diving under briefly is fine imo.

You can currently dive under the water in redsec. But yeah if they went the COD route they'd have to almost create a whole new map with details under the water to swim through

Do you still remember Titan Mode from Battlefield 2142?
I’ve got an idea inspired by that: Bunker Conquest.
There are normal capture points like in Conquest, but each team’s main base is a heavily fortified bunker.
The goal would be to capture and hold flags. Every time a team controls a certain number of flags for a set amount of time, a rocket is launched at the enemy bunker gate.
After 10 rocket strikes, the bunker door is destroyed. Then the attacking team must storm inside the bunker and arm 4 bombs to win the round.
So it would combine classic Conquest with a final infantry-focused assault phase, similar to Titan Mode but with a new Battlefield style.
Would this be a good idea for you developers? I think it could create epic matches with teamwork, strategy, and memorable endgame moments.

No, It was Marina. It is a breathrough experience someone made. Spanish language in the type. I had fun. I was able to swim along with the bots in the water to the beach from a spawn on a pier. I could swim below the sunken boats and come up for air. It was at least as cool as anything i experienced in BF4. I along with the ai could breach the surface and fire with handguns. I came up and used a half sunken boat for cover to shoot at the enemy on shore. If I find the experience I will post here. They need a History search feature of servers we play so we can easily go back to the same ones. I can't find it. The good news any Marina map allows the sub surface swimming. Jump from the middle of the bridge into the water. Its cool on a hot day.
Hi, 3 Things i HOPE to see in future updates to BF6.
First: In game, when in** inspect mode, it would be very cool if the animations stayed put while firing the weapon instead of jumping to the center screen crosshair.** I would like to watch the weapon fire into the air from the side animation left or right side without the animation cutting to the center of the screen; This while holding the inspection key. Of course, if there was a threat nearby, then letting go of the inspection key would allow the animation to snap to the center to fight a real threat in game.
Second: Give us a server recently played history for our own sanity. I played a server yesterday, and I cannot find it no matter what I try. It should be so easy.
Third: Swimming under water. It is already here as I discovered in the Map Marina. Thank you very much. I ask, in place of this request, to** add back Hardware XP into the moderate XP** given in custom portal experiences. Reason is, we PVE type players who really are just private server creators playing against multiplayer bots would love to unlock all the hardware attachments in game. I still cannot unlock the DP shotgun. Many sniper rifles will never have large scopes unlocked unless you give, Coop, private server players this ability to unlock the games potential.

Good servers are usually full, so you need to set all search filters to Any.
The best thing to do is, once you’ve found a good server, press Esc and write down the server name. Then you can search for it directly later in the server browser.
I still have another suggestion for the Escalation mode. Could a timer be added that counts down, for example 20 minutes, or every 15 minutes the flag objectives change?
I understand the idea that the end phase should be harder, which is why there are more vehicles, but honestly I think the opposite would be better: many vehicles at the start, fewer at the end. Everyone would have to take care of their vehicles more carefully, like in a real war.
And maybe in the final phase it could shrink down to three very close flags, like Close Quarters, for a pure infantry fight.
Maybe it would also be better if you needed 5 points to win instead of 3. And more maps too.

Bot servers and xp farms are not the same thing.
Not everyone is a sweaty tryhard playing the game 24/7 only rocking the meta weapons and shit.
Some jut wanna hop on a game and play for an hour or two with some friends shooting some bots that dont jump around like a bunny, rank up a level or 2 and call it a day, relaxed in the couch.
And bot servers with full progression was promised by the developers on launch but was removed because of xp farm servers that only turned into afk farms which are so much worse. Now you need 4 players to start a server like that which is near impossible with the ways servers work. Its a joke
Yeah but honestly, even when you play PvP, you don’t have to sweat. It’s actually pretty easy.
But the thing with bots is different — you play against bots and instantly go 100-0 because they’re not even good. If they were a bit stronger, or way, way stronger, I wouldn’t really see it as XP farming. But with how weak the bots are right now, PvE is basically just XP farming.
I play PvP every day with friends in a relaxed way without sweating. We just play Hardcore.
The fact we have to choose three options that have positively impacted our experience on the survey even though none should be as an option is crazy
A lot of people are asking when we will finally be able to remove FLIR from the servers. Most of them think FLIR has a negative impact on the gameplay.
Play my way. No, play your way. Wait, What? What is this? Why not play your own way and you do you. Me do me. Leave me be. PVE vs PVP. Who cares? Why the hate on Bot players? Who goes 100-0 against bots has them turned down or player health on high. 2042 had a default portal which allowed players to play them PVE with challenges and XP though less than PVP. It was a good compromise. Yet here we are no better than before.

Bots have 100 HP while I only have 50 HP, because in Hardcore the player has reduced health. And in verified matches, bots can’t be adjusted at all. They’re only there temporarily in the morning until enough real players join the server.

You can reload your weapon right in front of the bots and don’t even have to take cover.

Either way still annoying when you want to take a break from studying but wait in que, load in and then get kicked to the main menu once the load bar completes.
Just make sure that in Filters everything is set to Any. Most importantly Free slots. And also after sorting by player count, you must refresh the list. Otherwise you will be shown only recommended servers and not the full list.
Don't use tags as well. Just Filters. Some servers are hardcore but without hc tag as they have different modifiers.

Well, I haven't encountered it for a long time. Even with a queue of 7/7. But players have told me that sometimes it happens but it is less than before. Some rare cases.
when it happened u just load into a normal game and then leave it then head ot the portal lobby u want to. That was the fix. now it's just not working at all and happens a lot. Go to hardcore servers in portal and youll notice it
I play every day hc in Portal. And I haven't had this queue bug for a long time. I have done the bug report here as well.

What I have heard is that it might happen on peak times. Since I am in UK, that's around 7 to 8pm. But other times, even with big queue, I have yet to see this bug again. Maybe it has to do with experience settings, who knows. But it also happens on mine but I have yet to encounter this bug again and I login daily.
But before it was 100% if there's queue, you will get kicked to the menu. Now I have heard it from some people but it's rare and random.
That guy will constantly elaborate on supremacy of pvp over pve because he believes that getting developers attention to improve his hardcore experience requires the needs of us pve scrubs to be ignored in the feature requests triage, a zero sum game of sorts.

The main menu's UI, makes me often not see Portal whatsoever. I tried Portal again today for the first time since 2 months after release and I went to search for a popular conquest community made map, it was top rated and I couldn't find any servers to join, I'm in the EU as well.
Overhaul the main menu UI and further promote Portal in the main menu. I think the biggest issue is the UI navigation.

bot farming was a symptom of the progression system being horrifically borked and horrible to tolerate to get a gun to a useable state. it becomes less needed the more progression gets fixed for attachments

hey, @summer notch! you guys are probably working on this already, but start with the basics. Players who are not coders or tech-savvy will have a hard time to understand what each setting does in Portal when creating a new experience. We need proper descriptions and guides for each toggle and settings available.
More so, the Portal Editor still uses BF2042 descriptions for some options/toggles in the experience creator, and those are confusing because they don't make sense, even for someone who understands how to use the editor. The whole workflow of setting up a basic experience in Portal needs a review and quality check to make sure each toggle/option is described accordingly so players actually know how that toggle would help them.

Anyway specific documentation really just needs to have everything we wouldn’t know immediately, like types and specific data structures that are arbitrary to portal and not godot. The community can handle everything else. Also open source the documentation

A standard pre-made experience, to invoke if you want to keep some of the code secret, or a default template for each of the modes would be nice.
So the documentation could explain how to achieve it, where to go and find it, or the whole code to copy and paste.

I'd also like to know more about asset limitations, performance limits for object count/ memory (dev recommendation for a threshold), file structures (exp.: .tscn, .json exports explained, example scripts, object scaling rules, terrain and geometry rules (what is editable, and isn't), interactable (ziplines, ladders, etc.)
And if possible, make a table for asset names to be quickly looked up (thumbnails would be an amazing bonus, since the ones in Godot are inaccurate/unviewable sometimes)
Custom lobbies were included. This wasn't part of the roadmap, but in general, some pretty cool stuff will be added to Portal in some upcoming patches. You'll hear more on it soon

Good evening, I would like to be able to create a simple and easily modifiable gungame experience in terms of weapon list for different sessions. I would also like an option to easily switch teams on the portal servers I host. Thank you.
so-so. A walkthrough guide (video or text with screenshots) to show a player how to get started with the Portal Builder would be very welcome, as none of those articles really do that. I'm not trying to be mean, but those three articles are written by someone who is either tech-savvy or knows the Portal Builder very well and doesn't feel the need to explain how the builder actually works, as they are expecting the players to have the same amount of knowledge about the builder.
I can't recall it now, but for example, I remember in the Portal Builder that some values for the modifiers are not explained accordingly, and it is hard to understand how much they might impact the experience. In such case, the user will either need to save the experience and test it by themselves, or they might abandon the idea to build an experience because of the poor guidance.
When a player creates a custom experience, there are a lot of toggles and sliders (e.g. vehicle damage, soldier damage, item restrictions and so on). Some of them are easy to understand what they do, but some of them are not, yet they have poor descriptions which will only confuse the user more. Think of it like an article that explains to a five-year-old how to create a custom experience in Portal and what each toggle/slider does in the builder.
I would create short articles for each category in the builder to explain each modifier and guide the user through it (e.g. Map Rotation, Teams, Vehicles, Weapons etc.)
That operation embers and Always faithful. The devs said their map philosophy for the campaign is so they can also be used in multiplayer. So hopefully they do become a official map if we’re lucky

Right now, the only way to get full progression on a custom experience, would be through it being featured. This is the current status of it, and I can't speak on what this will look like in a few months, but we're always evolving our processes
Main issues with portal in no order:
- 30hz servers
- No official way to have custom servers granted full xp and progression
- No good way to advertise/discover cool experiences. Need a way to build a community.
After that is fixed portal will carry this game so easily

Not currently a portal creator but some things I would love to see going forward are:
- Prebuilt and beautiful UI for flag captures and other status or metrics. Making creators build this themselves leads to an inconsistent experience between official bf6 multiplayer servers and portal
- Improved lighting. The graphics are considerably worse when using assets with baked lighting. It does not look as good compared to official maps in the current rotation
- Map texture reworks on Gulf of Lyndon. Several people have pointed out how many textures across the map have poor resolution or spatial placement compared to the actual redsec map
- Ability to reshape the terrain a bit would be nice to add hills or trenches. Perhaps procedural terrain generation would help make edits more consistent with the game aesthetic. Idk
- Hopefully with the naval war update, we can improve water physics or dynamics on any existing map

Nailed it. The biggest problem with custom portals is the lack of documentation. It's very unintuitive to newer creators. If DICE published a simple official getting started guide, who knows what fresh creation ideas would come through from it.

When that winter event was on recently, I tried playing Portal again... tried... it was just lagging constantly, I was repeatedly reset several meters back, and I kept dying 5-10 seconds later, even though I was already somewhere completely different. What a shame. I was really looking forward to playing winter maps.
If I’m not mistaken the portal editor is in godot engine. So that makes it written in godot script. Theres like a bunch of resources to learn gdscript and I think ChatGPT probably knows it. It’s a pretty popular and supported language

What I'd really like to see in Portal is something like in Battlefield 4: an air vehicle server. Where you can play jet against jet and helicopter against helicopter and get full XP... maybe then I can finally level up the jets.
I have not played with custom scripts on Portal since BF6 release. However, by far the number one thing I that disappointed me was the decision to reject raw JS scripts i.e. scripts with @ts-nocheck. This was not the case at launch but was added about a month in.
This is an incredibly negatively impactful choice because:
- It prevents the use of bundlers and minifiers which are an integral tool for any JS developer. JS is TS by definition. All bundlers that I'm familiar with eschew types i.e. transpile TS to JS, not bundle TS to TS.
- Because bundlers no longer work, the community can't develop easily-distributable libraries. This is critical to building more complex experiences, saves a lot of time, and produces higher-quality products.
For any actual developers in here that understand the importance of this limitation, please help raise awareness.

You promised full progression in official rules servers on launch, which was the biggest reason i bought the game, now keep that promise and let this be a battlefield that can actually last no matter the fluctuating playerbase.
Not everyone wants to play against sweats when you just play a couple of hours a week.
I should decide if i want 1, 4 or 128 players on my server.
The farmers will always find ways to exploit the game don't take that out on the casual playerbase.
The casual breakthrough servers are boring just playing the same map and mode everytime and the sweats use it to matchmake against casuals.
So its a useless mode and all other bot servers never have enough players to start with the minimum players requirement.

It's such a misguided limitation. It fails to prevent abuse of the internal API (there are ways to access it despite type annotation) and massively limits the powerful tools that the entire JS community has built over decades.
Without this limitation, you could install generic tools from NPM, Portal specific libraries from NPM or other sources (think UI libs, common game mode, etc.), and bundle everything together with a bundler like esbuild or Rollup.
Bundlers eschew types meaning annotations are dropped and raw JS is spat out in a minified bundle (typically a single .js file). This reduces bundle size but also allows you to compress included libs into your single JS file.

Easily the single most important change they could make. And simlpe to implement. In fact, they added this check after launch. This is why I stopped playing with Portal. Tools I built became unusable.

The browser does not support TS (this is changing) which is why a bundler is used. Like a build step in native project to create the bin.
Most modern browsers support ts (like u mentioned) I’m not sure why it’s needed for portal though
Improve the UI of Portal so we the players can see the difference in the server rule sets.
For the documentation, there is a ton of stuff that isn't mentioned anywhere.
I ran into some odd limitations using some of the commands.
Apparently you cannot teleport a vehicle to a random coordinate but you can have a list of (literally) 1000 coordinates and have the script randomly pick one.
Also, the commands relating to bots are some of the least intuitive I've seen. I don't know whether they just don't work or what but I had so much trouble getting them to use vehicles properly so some sort of guide on that would help a lot.

If you're referring to web dev, you do use a bundler of some kind. You may just not be aware. TS support in browsers is experimental.

Please allow persistent servers to change game mode/map playlist by human player count. For example, game mode is 16player tdm, when 12 human players are in server, switch next game to 24 player game mode with custom map playlist, when 20 human players join, allow switch to next game mode/size playlist. This will allow servers to fill easier and allow community servers a way to populate at lower numbers.

Bring back full xp, weapon mastery, challenges, and seasonal challenges back to portal for private bot lobbies. It does not have to be full xp and progression make it like where if a challenge is 100 kills it takes 200 to do it in a private portal bot lobby. Just give me the option to play privately with my friends and being able to start the match without needing a certain amount of real players.
If you want portal to have any value whatsoever you have to make it so it's actually possible to find working "experiences"... Just about everything in the listings is always broken or half done or only worked with previous game versions. I don't really know why this has never been addressed.

We need a platform like BattleLog. It requires the ability to rent a server and have it included in the match search rotation, so that rented servers are always full. Obviously, they must reflect the basic rules of all modes, including Hardcore. You must restore the clans with their various membership tags. Battlefield has always been a point of reference for those who belong to a gaming clan. You must allow server administrators to appoint moderators and enable them to move players from one faction to another, or allow everyone to move from one faction to another. This will help balance the servers if they empty out in one faction.
What would really be nice is giving the hosts more control of their experience. For example: setting other admins, separate crosshair removals from the vehicles and the ground crew, stuff like we was able to control in bf4, bf1 and 2042, instead of giving them the minimal amount of control. Let the creators be true creators of their experiences.
Everyone wants Battlelog back as a server browser, along with RCON or Procon as admin tools.
we don't necessarily need Procon or RCON back, but we do need a server tool that is as/similarly robust as those were

I really value a powerful admin tool with flexible control options. For me, some key features would be:
- The ability to select or remove specific maps from the rotation without restarting the server
- Team switching (manual or forced) to help balance matches
- A way to send clear server-wide messages (pop-ups), so even players who don’t read chat can see important rules or announcements
- Not only kicking players, but also the option to kill players who are breaking rules (e.g. base camping in main spawn)
- The ability to assign and manage admin roles (e.g. Leader, Moderator, Member)
- Reserved slots for community members or admins

i think there were custom scripts you could create to do stuff like that. Those were very useful. I remember running sniper limits, gadget bans, FLIR/IRNV bans back in the day using scripts. We also automated server map rotations based on playercount too.
If you were to do that in Portal now, you wouldn't get full XP/60hz unfortunately
I used RCON Net before because Procon had a lot—like a ton—of plugins. I think one of them even let you adjust things like gravity, etc.

On our servers, it’s quite rare that players shoot at their own tanks—unless the tank is camping in the main base and the enemy can’t attack it because of base protection.

Every now and then, there are players who intentionally go for teamkills only. They get reported directly via EA’s report function and are banned from the server by the admins.

The sandbox map, can it accept all assets from each map? Or is it restricted to certain map assets?

But I think all maps have the same content that can be added. And since the sandbox is meant for building completely custom maps, it will probably have the most content available.

Team balancing is 100% a thing - I do it in Lyndon’s wakes script
At the beginning of every game the players get even dispersed
Pros - clean split at game start
Con - sometimes players get split due to squad function still being broken
I would have a semi strict rule that has a +/- 2 threshold to allow squads not to be split
Not sure if you have seen it, but since last update there is an auto balance function you can call. Per description it takes care of keeping squads together, but requires even team size. Do you use that function?

where do i share battlefield 6 portal servers? I made a hardcore server on battlefield 6 that is a persistent server and I am looking for more players.

If you enable “restrict player feedback,” only the weapon crosshair is removed, but not the vehicle crosshair.
That's unfortunate, because I want the hitmarkers, but not the crosshairs :D
No, that’s not possible—unless you’re okay with having no crosshair in vehicles either.
But it would be nice if Portal allowed separate crosshair settings for weapons and vehicles.
I just don't get why anyone would want to disable vehicle crosshairs, since there's no replacement
For Portal Verified, we would need:
- Global damage multiplier
- Headshot damage multiplier
- Body shot damage multiplier
- Night vision devices on/off
- Weapon-specific damage multipliers:
- Assault rifles
- SMGs
- LMGs
- Bolt-action rifles
- DMRs
- Shotguns
- Sidearms
- Team switching
- Crosshair toggle for weapons
- Crosshair toggle for vehicles
- Hitmarkers on/off
You need all of that to properly fine-tune weapons in Hardcore, so SMGs don’t end up stronger than assault rifles.
It’s about being able to balance weapons for Hardcore through damage values instead of just adjusting overall player health.
I have a portal experience that I am trying to get active on Battlefield 6. I was hoping I could possibly get some help filling the lobby with players? The experience code is "zvkwp".
This could be introduced: when you try to join a Portal server with a high ping, you get an extra prompt asking if you really want to join, along with a warning that your own gameplay may be negatively affected—potentially significantly.

The server currently has the “zero player” bug — the host needs to get kicked for being idle once.

We always use Hardcore settings — you don’t need a toggle for it.
You just have to adjust the health. Hitmarkers are off, crosshair for weapons is off, and you have slightly less HP than on official servers.
That’s basically what we (The Bad Boys) mean by Hardcore 👍

To me Hardcore is very specifically no crosshair, no minimap, no spotting, 60hp, friendly fire, class-locked weapons, no third-person view in vehicles, much slower or no health regen, and no vehicle health regen
So basically how it worked in BC2/BF3/4
It’s not class-locked. It has no third-person view and no minimap, 50 HP, friendly fire is on, and there’s no crosshair.
And it’s already running 👍

20 players per team;
Friendly fire on;
Squad revive off;
Class-lock weapons on;
Reflect friendly fire damage on;
Reload whole magazines off;
Restrict game feedback on;
Spotting off;
Disable third person view in vehicles on;
Slide off;
Soldier move speed 90%;
Man-down type: downed;
Soldier health regeneration rate 15%;
Soldier max health multiplier 60%;
Vehicle health regeneration off;
Minimap off;
Ping behaviour: ping targets;
Sniper rifles, SVK, mobile cover and drone gun disabled.
No revive — players just go down.
I actually had a Conquest server like that running at the beginning.

The 20 player thing and 90% player speed in my case are designed to bring the combat intensity and player density more in line with what one would expect and be used to coming from BF4
I'd love to lower it to 36 players total but that leaves a half-full squad on each side

The specific reason for the teamkilling apparently was that the M44 didn't onetap

I have a issue with capture points, have them active in editor and also set them via script but it simply doesnt work. What could I been doing wrong?

On Hagental map it will be very dark in some places.

Yeah, to have an option to set 128 players in Community Servers would be fantastic.
On these mini maps with 128 players, even 64 is way too many.
It is nice to have an option, I will definitely try 128 players if it will be available.

I play mainly BF6 on Portal. Is there a reason you cant balance over to opposit team or manage the balance as an admin?
Yes, the team switching and the admin tools in general are very poorly equipped. That’s mainly because a lot of the game is designed around the matchmaking system, where those features are not really needed.
Portal may have been somewhat neglected in that regard, because a permanent community server needs very different tools — like proper team switching options for everyone.
If they (EA) want success again with Battlefield they should just do a remake of Battlefield 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 5 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 with the current version of Frostbite. Same maps and maybee some new maps.
They mastered Operation Firestorm and Caspian Border to Battlefield 4. And destroyed firestorm in Battlefield 6.
Well, it’s basically the same engine from back then.
So roughly, the evolution looked like this:
- Battlefield: Bad Company → Frostbite 1.0
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2 → Frostbite 1.5
- Battlefield 3 → Frostbite 2
- Battlefield 4 → improved Frostbite 3
- Battlefield 1 → further evolved Frostbite 3
- Battlefield V → Frostbite with ray tracing upgrades
- Battlefield 2042 → newer Frostbite version built for 128 players, etc.
- Battlefield 6 → heavily upgraded Frostbite version again, with a new destruction system, movement system, and more.
Before Frostbite, there was the old Refractor Engine:
- Battlefield 1942
- Battlefield Vietnam
- Battlefield 2
- Battlefield 2142

don't want to ping Hope again, but can anyone elaborate on that? to me it sounds like settings for adjusting spawn rates and such, not a team balancer
We configure each game mode with its own mutator that defines the maximum number of AI bots available for backfilling. This is part of the standard setup when introducing a new mode. Players don’t control the number of bots directly; you would simply enable or disable backfill. When enabled, the system fills with AI up to the limit set by that mode’s spawn-balancing mutator
This is not something you will really notice

I know I was running into a case where on 64-player Rush we'd only get 12 bots with backfill enabled. seems like this should fix that. I'm all for it!
Casual Conquest w/FULL XP & Bots
I have created a server for the casual players out there who want to grind weapon XP without the sweat-lords ruining it. I have tried to emulate that classic Battlefield feel that we all know and love by making a few tweaks.
• Class-locked weapons
• No 3D spotting
• No slide
I am willing to make some more changes based on player feedback if needed.

My thoughts. There is only one casual mode in the game and that's breakthrough, some people have been crying out for more casual modes like conquest, rush and domination which some portal creators are catering for. By DMZ you mean extraction shooter, which in fact has bots around POI's, its PVPVE with objective gameplay. By expand Redsec do you mean create an Extraction game mode using Redsec, Map is pretty big when put together. I think we can't spoil it for the casual players, Dice/Portal creators may create a extraction type game mode and as for bugs, all software has bugs that are constantly worked on to be resolved. If you don't report the bugs, they don't get fixed.
Is anyone else unable to join portal servers with players in them? For me it loads all the way and it kicks me out, tried resetting cache, idk if reinstalling the game will work

It must be something on your end. Otherwise more people would report here that they can't host servers.
Check if you have user created content enabled. Or maybe you want to host custom experience that is not approved yet?
Until this past weekend I kept getting an error screen that said undefined error any time I tried hosting a portal server.
Yesterday I was finally able to start one though. 64 player Breakthrough server with backfill, and it said full XP. I don't know if that was a bug or if they changed that at some point. Anyway the problem is the match doesn't start unless 4 actual players are on the server. I sat on my server for 2 hours and not a single person joined. Then I looked at the Portal Server browser and selected all maps and regions for Rush/Conquest/Breakthrough, and there were only like 2 servers each with 1 person on them.
coming from experience, trying to fill a 64 player server is nearly impossible unless you have a community of 20-30+ players that can join
When the game launched, initially my server was either just me on it, or me and 1 or 2 friends. Eventually, since my server was up constantly, people started joining and by the second week it usually had 20 players on it. Then they nuked portal basically and I even refunded the game at that point. I re-bought the game on sale and this is the first time I got portal to work again.
I didn't expect it to fill completely. The issue is NO ONE seems to be playing portal period. Again I'd be fine with playing with mostly backfill initially, until people start noticing the server and coming back. But it's never going to get and stay up with a 4 player requirement at this point with no one playing that mode.

we're all hoping for community server support when the browser comes out this year. I think that should change things and potentially make it easier
Same. It would also be nice if they remove the 4 player requirement. And put some kind of communication out there that they reverted some of their earlier portal changes. I wasn't playing for a while, but I follow various BF twitter accounts including an official one and I never saw anything about that. If people knew more might go back to portal.

I have created a custom hardcore server on Railway to Golmud only.
There are bots but they are there to backfill until players join (bots have 100HP which cannot be changed).

That would be a good change for the whole game tbh. In certain regions or circumstances where it takes forever to fill the lobby its kinda silly to have to move your controller/mouse every now and then to avoid a kick.
I also know it was a problem in redsec while spectating players. No idea if that one got fixed tho

Man, I've rarely played a game like BF 6 where you can't hear a thing about where someone's coming from. Even the old Counter-Strike 1.3 let you hear 100 times better whether the enemy was to the left, right, above, or below. But here in BF, it's really crap!

So @pseudo sage if u know good if u don't use youtube tuto then add interactpoint with ID in your map then with script bloc add the same code i gave u it's will switch the team for the player interacting with this interactpoint

Operation Augur will return. I think they should return with Sabotage Mode and Nightfall too. We don't like this idea about limited event. We had 2 great modes but they taked off. A team-based game simply needs team switching so people can play together with their friends/team and also help balance the server when needed.
Having to constantly rejoin and hope to land on the correct side is not really a team-friendly solution, and it’s also not a good way to balance servers properly.

exactly. It's particularly bad in Rush. The game will keep putting new joining players on one side and not the other, and it results in really bad team balance situations. It can make people leave the game due to how unbalanced it is and admins have no control over it
Yeah, Portal needs to be treated differently from the matchmaking system. Portal needs team switching.
For matchmaking overall, I would even say — or strongly argue — that it actually creates less teamwork.

There is base protection to prevent base attacks. The problem is that it often gets abused with AA vehicles.
Couldn’t the base protection be designed so that if you can’t shoot into the base, you also can’t shoot out of the base?

Uhh, no? I run a server with no sniper rifles, and I'd routinely kick people for using the Mini Scout back when you couldn't disable it through the portal builder tool. It's rather straightforward and fast.
Granted, I mostly play infantry so I can afford to tuck myself away behind cover to open the admin menu

The simplest solution would be: if you can’t shoot into the base, then you also shouldn’t be able to shoot out of it — especially with tanks and anti-air vehicles.
Agree. Otherwise have to get online to kick tank campers all the time.
Yeah, at the moment we’re basically working 24/7 because of base campers.

I always try to put my input and criticism for lack of development and support for portal in the surveys .. it just seems to be the least worked on part of Battlefield.. You can't help if they won't provide input on what is going on or what is to come.
We've had so many cool unique made experiences and maps.. which is all going to waste because Portal is so limited to the point where it's not worth putting any effort into it.. I can't quote it directly but when I saw one of the devs saying it's not possible to just turn on 60hz for portal servers is ridiculous.. I've never heard such a bad excuse for how poorly this part of the game is being supported.
Featuring few experiences every couple of months and giving full experience to them is not enough.. Give it to all the experiences of Portal or Portal will be getting the hazard zone treatment from 2042.. Dead on arrival and only bug fixes.

Good Morning, So I created a server but having some issues, the UI Points across the top for conquest just stay gray. While the points will turn Blue or Red when captured. Anyone have an idea of where the setting is to link the UI and the points status? I could use some help.
