Hey <@&573987112441872404>! We have some news for you.
We have decided to return this server to a state of being 100% owned and run by the community, which means this server is no longer an official Discord for Battlefield.

All the way back in 2018, we gave you all the news that we had just partnered with EA/DICE to become the Official Battlefield Discord Server.
After 4 awesome years with EA/DICE, we have decided it is time to go back to our roots, and return to be fully community owned and run.

We will continue being the #1 Discord for all your Battlefield needs, and we thank you all for being here with us.
Some things might change, some things might not, but we will always stay transparent with you all and inform you of any major changes to this server. To stay informed about any server news, head to #220326362077069323 and get yourself the Server News role.

I am happy to announce the following upgrades for the Battlefield Stats Discord bot:

🔡 A modern and exciting new font. Stats deserve the best that typography can offer. This is why I've contracted the legendary Vincent Connare to adapt the iconic font into the stats world.

🖼️ Your feedback is loud and clear: Out with the square, in with grungy designer shapes. To achieve this stunning effect, I painstakingly opened Photoshop, moved my mouse across the canvas, and produced art.

WideAngel Another common piece of feedback has been the lack of Wide Angel. Any Angels have been replaced with Wide Angel.

BF2042 I have never been a fan of the old, unmodern, and clunky Battlefield logos. This is why I have replaced all of them with modernized variants that are more pleasing to the eye. Surely the brand managers of the world will love these new logos!

📚 In my spare time, I have started writing a collection of poems. To allow me express my artistic prowess together with my other love, stats, the bot will now respond to each stats output with a lovely poem.

We have made some changes to our Community Creations category. You will now need to visit id:customize and select the Community Creations option in the additional channels tab. While you're there, feel free to select any other additional roles you don't already have.

Why did we make this change? 🔧

This change was necessary due to the increasing number of users who ignore the purpose of both channels to upload content that does not follow the rules of each channel. Hey everyone,

We have an important announcement regarding the future of The Battlefield Discord. Tomorrow, September 6, we will be handing over admin responsibilities of this server to EA's Battlefield Community Team, and they will be running the server going forward.

All of us on the admin team felt this was the best decision for the future of this community, as for most of us, our personal lives and careers have gotten in the way of being fully committed to running the server.

What does this mean for you? Not too much for the next while.

However, EA and its Battlefield Studios have big plans for this server to become the main community hub for all Battlefield players. You'll find out more about what that means in the future. But just like you, we can't wait to see what's coming!

Following up on the message from the Battlefield Discord staff, we as The Battlefield Community Team wanted to give you an update on future plans for this Battlefield Discord server.

We’re kicking things off with a short outline on what’s happening, what’s changing, and how you can ask us questions about the upcoming changes to the Battlefield Discord.

What's changing?
▫️ Over the past few months, we’ve worked closely with the current admins and moderators of the Battlefield Discord to establish new admin roles for team members of EA, and the Battlefield Community Team.
▫️ Over the coming weeks, and alongside these role updates, we'll make some changes to the server rules, and active bots, to ensure they match other official EA Discord servers.
▫️ You can also expect changes to the structure of new and existing channels as we get closer to sharing more news about what's next for Battlefield.

**What this means for you **
▫️ Other than updated rules, bots, and small channel structure changes, there is no action required for you as a member of the server.
▫️ Please note while things are in flux, there will be some slight changes as the handover happens and things are set up. We aim for this to be with the least disruption possible!
▫️ While you'll notice these outlined changes in the coming months, we’d also love to hear from you on how to make continued features and improvements!

Why are we making this change?
▫️ Discord will serve as our new central Battlefield Community hub going forward, with info drops, events, ongoing developer interaction, AMAs, feedback, and more. With members of the EA team as new admins for this server, it will be easier for us to connect you with Battlefield, and the teams that develop it.

Hello there, Discord gang! We are going to make some changes to the channel structure and rules soon. Make sure you check out #rules to familiarize yourself with our Discord server.

Updated rules are:
If you notice any inappropriate behavior or content in The Battlefield server, follow the steps in our ⁠⁠#how-to-report-and-appeal channel or via the EA Help article to learn how to report players via the details in our #rules. If you see inappropriate content, please report it to EA or to Discord. Serious violations should be reported to Discord. Reports to EA will be processed in accordance with EA's Privacy & Cookie Policy. EA may forward reports of violations to Discord. Discord Community Guidelines apply to content posted here.

And as a reminder:
We allow limited sharing of embedded images (jpg/png/gif) and video files (mp4/avi/webm) which can be viewed within the Discord app. For the security of others, you should not upload other types of attachments to messages including any files which must be downloaded to view them (exe/bat/wmv/flv etc.)

Channel changes:
Additionally, we will be removing the #technology and #other-games channels in 14 days, making them read-only on June 11th and then removing them completely on June 18th.

LFG channels and Hazard Zone

We've moved #lfg-gauntlet and #lfg-battle-royale to the general LFG area, as users have found it difficult to locate them in the REDSEC section. Please continue to select your #roles to hang out and chat with other players who are playing #battle-royale and #gauntlet. Also, we have dedicated voice channels for Gauntlet and Battle Royale. We've also made the decision to retire the #hazard-zone channel and have disabled the ability to post in there. We'll be moving the channel into the archive this week.

Updated Discord account action appeal and channel updates

Additional appeal process

We have updated our appeal process for actions taken against Discord accounts on this server. As you can see in #how-to-report-and-appeal the process now allows you to appeal directly in the DM you receive for a violation from the [moderation bot](#how-to-report-and-appeal message). If you don't allow DMs from users not on your friend's list, you can still appeal via the website process outlined in the channel. A reminder to check the #rules if you haven't done so yet, or to get a refresher of the expected behaviour on the server.

Channel changes

We will be moving both #discord-server-feedback and #secure-boot-info to the channel archive, which you can find at the bottom of the channel list. We're continuing to read your feedback and suggestions for the Discord server in the chat channels, and are making several other changes before or at Season 2 launch. More info to come on that soon. We haven't seen discussions around the requirements for secure boot in the community for a while, and you can find a help article on the EA Support site.

Hey @everyone! We got some big news for you. 🎉
Today we can finally announce that we are now the Official Battlefield Discord Server!

The server was originally created by @spare bluff all the way back on January 24th, 2016. Soon after, we partnered up with the Battlefield 1 subreddit, r/battlefield_one, and on January 9th 2017, we became Discord partners. After the Battlefield V reveal we also partnered up with r/BattlefieldV. And then, a few months ago, EA reached out to us to discuss the future of the server and its role in the Battlefield community. This led to where we are today: Battlefield Discord is now the official home of Battlefield on Discord!

So what does this actually mean?
First of all, and most importantly, the server will still be owned and run by us, the community. However (and second of all), this partnership will allow us to organize more frequent events and giveaways, get our server promoted on social media, possibly host AMAs, and more!

With all that being said we are excited for the future and can’t wait to share it with you.

To do that send me or @tiny torrent a message with a picture of your work (own creation). If it suits the channel then you will be given the role. How would you feel about a self assignable Server News role that we can ping like we do for the @-Insider role. Currently Insider is used for mostly game announcements but we also do use it for some significant server related news. If we were to make this change, Insider would be called Game News and we would have the new Server News role for anything server related plus giveaways.

Update to server rules regarding content featuring political figures
Effective immediately and subject to change

For a period now, we have been evaluating our stance on content featuring political figures, and we have decided to change our guidelines. This can be seen as a bit of a test to see if these guidelines fit and will be tweaked if they do not. Any questions, DM ModMail.

What we now allow:
Non-political memes and content including politicians such as (but not limited to) Biden staircase, Bernie mittens, Trump art of the deal, Wide Putin, and any piece of content that features a political figure in a NON-political way. This includes images, videos, GIFs, and reactions.

What we still don't allow:
Any content that is political, or has any commentary on political issues or ideologies. We still do not allow any profile pictures, names, or nicknames of any political figures or any statuses that feature political commentary. When it comes to server content, we still do not allow just plain images or portraits of political figures. It needs to be featured in a meme completely devoid of politics. And of course, all of #500058972234055710 still apply.

Moderation is done at our discretion and we reserve the right to deal with anyone found to be abusing these guidelines. This includes changing the guidelines to fit our intent.

She was the kind of individual that would invest themselves in you, seeing your potential, cheering you on when you needed that extra boost of confidence... without expecting personal gain in return. She was compassionate, loving, and funny.

As the loss of her reverberates throughout the community, it leaves a void of presence and persona that will be hard to match. We already miss you, but because of all the lives you have touched and the lessons you have taught, we know you would expect us to carry on, and carry forward with love in our hearts!

With the launch of Battlefield 2042, we have new channels!

Our current Battlefield channels are these:

#portal - Used for general discussion about Battlefield Portal.

#battlefield-legacy-titles - Used for discussion about any Battlefield title that is not Battlefield 2042. (Battlefield V, 1, 4, etc.).
#stats - Used to view your Battlefield stats. Type /bf to see stats command. (Stats are not currently available for 2042).

The #FridayNightBattlefield event is moving to this Discord

What is #FridayNightBattlefield?
#FridayNightBattlefield is a weekly event where players get together to play Battlefield in a friendly atmosphere with DICE developers and Electronic Arts staff. It is a long-standing event with deep roots in the Battlefield community.

Starting next Friday, the 19th, the event will be held on this server in a dedicated category that will house all the FNB channels, as well as weekly info on how to join. Any FNB announcements will be in #fnb-news.

It's been great working with the #FridayNightBattlefield staff and we are looking forward to the future of the event.

Regarding the increased levels of toxicity shown by some users
A message from the voluntary Battlefield Discord team, not from EA/DICE

Feedback/Criticism
We have always allowed people to post criticism about the game. This is not changing and will never change, as it is a crucial part of game development. However, criticism comes in many forms of delivery. There is criticism with zero constructive feedback included, criticism with included toxic or insulting comments, and there is criticism with actual constructive feedback.

The only type of criticism we want to see here is the latter of the three: criticism with actual constructive feedback. We fully understand the passion people have for games, but the length some users go to express their dislike is not acceptable. Coming in to our channels just to add more feedback-less anger to the same topics that have already been mentioned a thousand times is not accepted, and will be seen as spam, depending on severity. Before you post a message, please remember that you should stay civil at all times and respect everyone here, including the developers. Comments such as "fuck this trash game" adds absolutely nothing to any conversation, so think before you might feel like posting something similar.

If you have constructive feedback or want to report a game bug, the best place to post this is on Answers HQ: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield/ct-p/battlefield.
We encourage you to express your opinion on the game, whether negative or positive, but we ask that you word it in a constructive and thoughtful way.

Harassment
A very unfortunate thing that has spawned out of this release is increased harassment towards individuals, such as developers, players, and the Discord mod team.
Some examples of harassment (yes, all these happen even if you personally don't see it): wishing death/harm upon someone, wishing that someone loses their job, insulting a person based on their work, saying things like "they don't deserve a vacation" etc. We would also like you to remind you of our #500058972234055710.

We want to be VERY clear: Targeted harassment towards developers, players, or anyone else is not tolerated, and will be dealt with.

Summary
To sum this up, you should:

  1. ALWAYS aim to stay civil in your comments and deliver feedback without any insults or toxicity towards any developers or players.
  2. NEVER harass any developers or players.
  3. ALWAYS feel welcome to share your constructive (civil, calm, and without insults) feedback on this server.
  4. NEVER hinder a player's enjoyment of the game.

We understand the urge to express your dislike, but there are better ways to do it than adding onto the pile of mindless hate.
