Salad is gotten from gus at 220g each, so 102g cheaper, and restores 113 energy, and 50 health.
That is a 12 energy and 6 health difference, if you use artisan you spend basically 102g MORE for 12 energy and 6 health at min quality
at silver that's 181g for 62 energy, 28 health
gold is 263g for 112 energy, and 51 health

Mushrooms become useless outside of a single CC bundle, they don't sell for much, there's mushroom floors in the mines/SC so you get mushrooms there super easily, then due to a post CC thing which i can't spoil here, i find mushroom cave is un-needed because i can get mushrooms anywhere else.

Bats can drop fruit, so now artisan bundle is easy (one of the worst w/o IMO), you have some of the bulletin board stuff taken care of as well, so it helps with 2 bundles. Fruit tree fruit is a universally liked item. the perk that gives you all max quality forage, and suddenly you have something that can gift you perfect gifts to give villagers. Worse comes to worse, you can always turn the fruit into Jelly for more money than mushrooms

only reason i think mushroom cave is viable is because you can get extra early game energy

Foraging most simply is picking up the fruits / vegetable things on the ground. There are other things that also contitute foraging, but that's the gist. It helps you chop trees better additionally.
