It's a good way to play your first time through. Doing the CC really helps introduce you to things in the game in a natural progression. Joja is just about making money and good for later playthroughs when you know what you are doing.

Mushrooms can be good for food and a little early-game money. Bats are good for a better chance at early CC completion, but isn't really necessary if you do your animals right.
