I rarely buy ores tho, I happened to have a lot by fishing and casually mining

i don’t hate mining it’s just the energy consumption which bothers me, it causes me to have to fish/use gold to get actual food then go into the mines and even if i’m resourceful it goes away pretty fast

what foods are you eating though? iridium chubs and iridium small mouthbass, salmonberries, parsnips, carrots are all very solid options

worst case scenario, u can buy salads which is also a decent option

the iridium rod is necessary only if you struggle with the fishing mini-game, in my opinion
if you are comfortable with the mini-game, there's no point in getting the iridium rod (barring specific circumstances)

While the iridium rod is great, when you're first starting your farm there's always so many other competing priorities, like upgrading backpack, etc.

To me, bait is all you really need on a regular basis. You want to start looking at other add-ons when you want to land tricky fish. Like the trap bobber.
