I’d start with clearing a bit of the farm and planting seeds.

You can use the axe to clear small logs and trees. You can use the pickaxe to clear small rocks. The scythe to clear the small grass/shrubs. Then use the hoe to till some earth, and place seeds in the tilled earth. Then water them with the can.

I choose fruit bats over mushrooms because:
-botanist makes iridium fruit gifting much easier than waiting 4 whole years for iridium fruit trees (3 villagers also have loved gifts for specific fruit. 4 if you include wild plums for Jas' plum pudding. Everyone else likes them)
-makes CC/shipping easier
-eat fruits for energy early game (same could be said for mushrooms, I just like fruit more since every single type could be eaten)
-small storage space for late game. I usually put my ||garden pots|| in here
-mushroom logs make fruit bats even more appealing since you already have another source to get mushrooms easier. Just because mushroom cave comes with a free dehydrator, still doesn’t make it worth it for me personally, but I also just grow crops for kegs so a free dehydrator could be useful early game if you wanted to grow multiples crops
-dont need to check it as frequently as the mushroom cave so it makes it more flexible for me to spend my time doing other things
-bats are cute & I love them

it really doesnt matter which one you pick, just go with whichever sounds the best to you

although I have the fruit bats, I still plan to plant one of each fruit tree on the farm... in fact I've been planning to blend the fruit trees in with the normal trees in whatever space is free to replant said normal trees, so the fruit trees feel like they're part of the little forest just like the mushroom stumps xD

You need more fruit than shrooms, also depends on what you donate

a lot of the mushrooms arent that hard to get, but with the fruit you have to wait for the trees to grow if you dont have the bats
