Either choice is fine, the fruit bat cave offers a bit more help towards bundles like mentioned or gifting. The mushroom cave prior to 1.6 was better imo. I think once you're experienced in the game either choice is valid. They both don't end up mattering once you're in the later part of the game

Not really. There are some minor benefits, but it's safe to leave the door open

I don't know of a specific to be exact but I find that the better their mood the more chance. You can increase mood by letting them eat grass outside and making sure they get petted for the day. Also having a heater inside during the winter.

For having an easier time though I suggest saving up any jade you have || Jade can be traded on sundays for stair cases to get past difficult floors|| Bombs and using food with +speed is good and maxing out luck. Speed is important so coffee and spicy eel is a good combination. || Luck increases your chance of finding shafts to jump down to speed up the process, so max luck days help too ||
