Okay, if you want my advice, I made a big screwup my very first save, one that would have had me struggling, and not having very much fun while doing it, for months afterwards. I was still in year 1, so I restarted.
Might give you the perfect opportunity to take what you've learned and make a much better farm and game experience for yourself. It isn't losing progress if that "progress" was in the wrong direction.
Sometimes starting over with a clean slate can be liberating, and much more satisfying and rewarding that living with nagging regrets.

You did say you regretted choosing Riverlands. Start over and choose Standard. It's a much better first-time experience.

You can also hoe anywhere on the beach and get a chance at clay, and unlike on your farm, the beach resets every day, so you can hoe every day.
