Yes but you have to face mobs in a more complicated setting, Understand 3d building learn coordinates, understand certain food and hunger points, how to get materials. In the end minecraft is far more complicated, than SDV and terraria combined. The only reason people DONT complain about it, (The difficulty) is because they have years of experience due to it being a popular game

However, you can plant 1 cauliflower and 1 green bean starter on day 1 and have both ready the day OF the festival (beans earlier), and use them and 1 potato and 1 parsnip, and you can complete the Spring Crops bundle of the CC and get 25 speed-gro. You can use this to put on 25 of the strawberries you do buy if you plant them the night after the festival, and you'll get three harvests of strawberries instead of the normal 2.

It is, but I'd caution against making it your top priority. It's best to spend money on things that can make you MORE money early on. So get your coop and barn first, make sure you have enough seed money for crops. Get a steady income rolling first, then get the kitchen upgrade.
If you really want to make food early on, there's always the Cookout Kit, which you can thankfully get a LOT earlier in 1.6 than you used to in 1.5.
