Nothing has time limits so go at your own pace. Normal sorinklers are okay but quality ones are great. Hardwood is very useful so when you get Mahogany seeds plant them. Fishing is a great way to make money early. You get new recipes to cook on Sundays on the TV, replays of recipes you don't know on Wednesdays. You can check luck in the TV, it primarily affects mining.
