Grass (the edible kind, not the static kind) can interfere with truffle finding. The game sees it as an obstacle. I only place a little grass on the far side of their pen, but that's when I have pigs set up in a separate barn. It's kind of hard to do when you have all your diiferent animals in one barn, and the others need grass, but the pigs don't.

Watch the TV every morning before you leave the house. It will give you game tips and recipes, as well as alert you to any events.
One event you want to watch for is the arrival of Salmonberry Season. Spring 15-18 you can venture out and shake bushes with pink berries on them (which appear on every map except the beach and your farm) and get a LOT of salmonberries.
They aren't worth selling, but you can get so many of them that they'll keep you fed and energized for weeks, if not months.

Speedrunners usually have knowledge of ladder spawn patterns. They can literally figure out where the ladder might be based on patterns of which rocks drop geodes. Insane stuff
