Depending on your situation, you can plant something else with a good ROI ratio and step up to Starfruit

Wheat seeds are available for a paltry 10G for half the year; if you already have a lot of kegs, you could plant two cycles of Wheat for 270G profit per tile from the resulting beer, and then you're ready for Starfruit (or even a third cycle while you wait for the second to ferment)

If you don't already have the kegs (and if it's Winter so most seeds aren't available), this gets trickier. Maybe Rhubarbs.

Before a certain bug was addressed, winter tended to be the only season we could guarantee high animal mood

There was supposed to be a mood penalty for if you spend time in their home in the evening while they're trying to sleep (i.e. you are disturbing them)
This was bugged in a way that made it happen regardless of where in the world you are, meaning the animals will be in a bad mood unless you go to sleep at a depressingly early hour.
Meanwhile in the winter, the mood gained from heaters would override that penalty (preventing it from happening at all)

Eventually CA just gave up and removed the "disturbed sleep" penalty entirely, so that it at least wouldn't do this.

Yeah, only time I'd use a foraging buff is for the extra berries. The fact that I haven't used a foraging buff for extra berries doesn't change that. LOL
