Well as you play you get more used to things. At level 6 farming you can craft quality sprinklers. You will need to go to the mines to do so.

1 iron bar, 1 gold bar, 1 refined quartz to craft each one. But they are worth it. As they make it so you don't have to water 8 crops.

Iron is floors 40 through 79
Gold is floors 80 through 119
If you collect fire quartz you can smelt that to make 3 refined quartz.

best thing to do early game is spend it on a fishing rod. Bring a chest with you and put your fishes there so u dont need to spend on inventory upgrade. Beach is best to fish profit-wise but mountain is best for level, while river catfish is best during the rain. Around day 20 if i recall correctly the egg hunt will happen in which you could buy strawberry seeds, which yield around 1.5x profit that you should buy and plant on the same day for maximum profit; and then upgrade your inventory then other tools as you see fit - pickaxe if you mine more, if you need wood then upgrade axe
