If you have enough Foraging levels, you can craft Tree Fertilizer. This heavily increases the growth rate. I believe it becomes 60% per day?

I like to try pushing Foraging to Lv4+ before the 15th, Farming to Lv6+ before the end of the season, and hustle to the 80th floor of the mine (or near it) before the end of summer

As for where to fish: if you're confident in your skills, I recommend the mountain lake in the daytime. Sturgeons are strong but sell well. Watch out for Lingcods, though; they're strong too but not worth as much cash.

After the cut scene with the "rats" you need to go look at the gold plate on the floor. After you do that you'll get a letter from the wizard

there's no rush, you can play at your own pace. That's the big goal of the early game though, completing the community center
