Does the game change in any significant way post-Year 1? Winter so far is boiled down to gearing up and slaving away on the ||skull caverns and getting to the bottom||, is there anything I'm missing?

I'm no longer getting "milestone" quests from the villagers like in the early seasons so I've been spending most days on the desert. Most of my income is passive from livestock so not much to do on the farm either. I missed a lot of fish from Y1 seasons so it'd be a while to finish the centre too.
