Make sure you’re also fishing at the correct location and time. They appear between 4pm and 2am in the ocean. If you can’t catch any in spring, you can also catch them in fall under the same conditions.

This is a bit of a long post and it's not perfect, but it's knowledge I collected when trying to efficient run Month 1 (as apparently its the most important) @mint hound

Early game guide:

Day 2 = Get to level 3 fishing. Optional = Buy training rod (perfect fish) Save chubs for energy.
Day 3 = Will be raining, buy fibreglass fishing rod and as much bait as possible. Fish for catfish in forest river 
Day 4 = Fish near mines on the edge of the bridge, in the red area for bass. Need to be level 5 by the end of the day. Sell fish overnight with 20% increase.
Day 5 = Go as deep as possible in the mines, and get as much copper to make forge. 5 copper bars and upgrade pickaxe.
Day 6 = Upgrade backpack and fish south of farm. Always have bait. Buy as many potatoes as possible.
Day 7 = After watering, head to mines straight away.
Day 8-12 = Hit mines hard and fishing when raining. As much copper/iron ore as possible from mines.
Day 10 = Upgrade pickaxe to copper/irone or it won't be ready for the egg festival. Need to be level 6 farming by here. Level 7 fishing by here.
Day 12 = Harvest all potatoes and sell, forage and be ready to grab the pickaxe at 9am. Then hit the mines
Day 13 = Prepare the ground for strawberries and gaps for sprinklers. Buy as many strawberries as possible. Optional = Go to CC on this very day to get speed gro from first unlockable.
Day 14 = Go to the mines everyday to reach floor 100 as soon as possible.
Day 21 = Get to floor 120 for the skull key.
Day 22+ = Fish by the mines to get to 45,000 gold to unlock the bus. 4 bundles need to be unlocked:
- Spring foraging
- Spring crops
- Geologists bundle
- Adventurers bundle```

**Fishing Guide:**
```Spring = Mountain lake on sunny days (near mines) and forest river on rainy days to catch catfish level 2/3```

Red = Higher chance for quality fish and lower chance for garbage

**General Tips:**
```1. Don't farm much at all in spring, fish or go to the mines. Ideally get to Skull Cavern asap and upgrade the pickaxe to gold.
2. Don't focus on completely CC too much in Year 1 - only save up for the Bus
3. Don't bother with 5 star parnips.
3. Save up for Strawberries at the Egg Festival only```

they are okayish, they level up both forage and farming and gives you smth to use your sprinkes on
