yes, scout is good in super-super-late-game if you build your entire rings and weapon setup around critting a lot, yes, acrobat is good on hammers and daggers at level 10, but scout does basically nothing at the time people are asking the question and swords are the typical progressing-down-the-mines weapon and even beyond (obsidian edge, steel falchion, the funny purple sword) whereas you have to go out of your way to find/buy a hammer

By the time you get there you have probably unlocked the profession respec statue. Scout alone is just, like, a skill tax you put up with to get acrobat and there's no reason to advise people to take it at level 5.
