A normal barn and coop can house 4 animals. When you upgrade them once it goes up to 8 animals and them 12 animals with the third upgrade

so, theres seeds for different seasons. unfortuntely melons can only be grown in the summer 
so if you try to plant it it'll say "seed out of season" or smth, or will just immediently die.
